Buying Dumbells

I know people have talked about home gyms in here but I would like to buy a rack which I have seen at Sports Authority for about 80 (3 teir rack) and a bunch of dumbells. I never realized how much they were until now and I was wondering if anyone knew a cheap place to get them. It seems like most places are .59 cents per pound and I have seen then for .49 cents but I was wondering if I could get them even cheaper somewhere? The reason I ask is because I'm going to need a lot of them and it will get very expensive. If anyone knows any good places please let me know!

Might want to try these:

1) Garage sales;

2) Classified ads for used ones;

3) Wal-Mart.

Regarding Sports Authority: sometimes I get a call from them saying I'll get $10 off my next visit just by mentioning that they called me. If you go with them, give this a try.

# 48" - Two Tier Dumbell Rack
# One pair of each:
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 & 50 lb.
Hex Dumbells
# Size: 22" X 40.5" X 26"H
-620 lbs.
C-915348-HD - $269.95 + Freight

If you buy just the rack with no dumbells its $129.95. So here you are getting 620lbs of dumbells for $140.00. You just need to pick it up, because shipping is like $300.

^^ looks like a great deal! To bad i'm in FL, will have to look for another way. Plus, if I got that I would still need to buy all the heavier dumbells seperately. I think ill have to get them at a sporting goods store, i'll just have to look for them when they are on sale.

isnt that bowflex one supposedly pretty decent? the one where you turn the knob and it switches the same handle to different weights?

I have seen these and am not sold on the idea, would rather just have a old normal set. Normal dumbell don't usually break and I have a bad feeling about that thing.
