Best thing to eat before workout
Hey All,
My girlfriend recently bought a treadmill and I decided to start using it to shed a few pounds. I try to get on for 30 minutes daily right after work. I'm finding that I'm usually hungry when I get home from work. What would be the best thing to eat/drink to curb the hunger while I'm on the treadmill?
Thanks!

Best thing to eat before any workout/exercise is carbs. You need energy to work out and carbs are going to be your most readily available source. I've been going the clif bar route lately, its convenient and carb dense (with some protein thrown in), though some people can't really stand the texture. Just make sure you give yourself time to digest.

I have some friends that long distance run and they eat peanut butter prior to. I have questions though. How long before the workout should I eat it? Also, sometimes, like last night, I worked out at like 11PM and finished about 30 minutes later. An hour later, 12:30am I was in bed. I ate dinner at like 6. If I had eaten PB before working out, is it too late in the day to eat those carbs? One last question, how big of a PB serving?

Got a question. I'm pretty sure the answer is no but I'll ask anyways: Would Met-Rx Protein Plus bars (or really just like 1/4 of them cus I hear they are thick) be good to eat before a run? I ask cus this guy at work just got fired and we raided his desk and found a couple

When I got home from work last night (4 PM), I had a spoonful of peanut butter, a small granola bar, and a swig of milk. It was perfect and held me over throughout exercise and until dinner (about 6:30 PM).
Then I read the back of the container of peanut butter and realized that one tablespoon has 200 calories! I don't want to negate my effort! lol

every person is different. do what you like and what gives you the best energy/boost. i like to make a large protein shake, drink a 1/4 or so before and then finish it after i workout. make sure to eat at least an hour or so later (high in protein, low in carbs).

Its a misconception about eating past a certain hour in the day. You should be eating every 3 hours or so up until about 1.5-2 hrs before you go to bed. If you are staying up until 1, and not eating past 7 because thats what people say, that is a 6hr time period without eating, then add on your sleep.
