so... you're not doing cardio yet because your chest and biceps aren't where you want them to be?

You also need to make sure your balancing your other muscles such as back, legs, lats, abs. People who focus too much on one area end up looking disproportional and weird.
Also, you can work in cardio on off days. or do cardio earlier/later in the day from weight training.
At your height, because you dont have a long reach building your chest and arms is easy. I wouldnt worry about that too much.

You can only do so much chest and arm work outs in a week.

i would lift 3-4x a week but with moderate weight and stay at the same weight each set, and definately get cardio in atleast 2-3x a week too

nowadays bodybuilders bulk up over the off season eating heavy carbs and heavy protein in MASS amounts, thus "bulking" and they get fat...huge...then when its time to cut down, they focus on cutting down all the carbs and balancing them correctly for THEIR BODY specificly,so that when its time for competition they are still huge, but also cut,and this is why most bodybuilders have nutritionist nowadays.

by the way im not comparing myself to a pro bodybuilder,i obviously dont have the resources and free suppliments/steriods that these guys do,but i was just trying to shed some light on the bulking/cutting process.
like i said before,i know how my body works best and this isnt my first rodeo...last time i was able to hit the gym like i am able to now,i lost 47lbs in 12 weeks...so,thas why im focusing on building for the next month or so before i start trying to cut. but at the same time im not trying to BULK by eating alot of calories/carbs.

on one hand... I've been around the bodybuilding scene myself... NO, I've never competed... but a lot of my friends did... (2 turned IFBB Pro), I've been a personal trainer for over 10 years... IMHO, you should add cardio (now).... but low intensity cardio so you're NOT burning muscle, but burning fat. I'm talking about 20-30 minutes AFTER you weight train.
on the other hand... I know what you mean when you say you know your own body and how it works... If that's the route you want to take... and you know it works... then go with it.

When you say low intensity after weight training...what do you mean exactly? keeping your heart at certain level? Or just hitting a moderate pace for 20-30 minutes?
At this point, I'm probably just as guilty of shirking cardio...I used to start of with 20-30 minutes, but the machines I like were always taken. Then, I decided I didnt want to tire myself out and hinder making gains.

here's a link I really like... and totally preach it to all my clients

(unless they can't handle the cardio -first thing in the morning/on an empty stomach part)

I dunno... I have mixed feelings about crossfit... and that type of training... don't get me wrong... it's tough training, but if it was effective in gaining size... wouldn't every pro bodybuilder in the world be doing it?

I even made a thread about this a few years ago:

well, that's a very vague question... it's like calling up a body shop and asking them what would they do with your car without knowing anything about your car or even seeing it...

normally i just do a steady pace on the highest incline on the tread mil,if not ill do the sprint walk sprint walk method since ive never been able to run for long periods of time (i used to have asthma as a kid but believe ive gotten over it)

It's kind of hard to explain what I mean so I won't bother you with it. I'll have to remember to ask my brother-in-law...I think he used to be a personal trainer.
Thanks though

It's funny seeing "big guys" who can't ever wear shorts without being ridiculed.

1. Bodybuilding on Roids
2. Crossfit on Roids
3. Crossfit without roids
4. Bodybuilding without roids
The reasoning had to do with the body's neuroendocrine response to the training.
I think I might start to mix the odd crossfit day into my weeks.

no bother... I just need to know more... but if it's medical condition related... I can't play doctor either.

trees grow in
Even though your abs won't show at this stage, you should still add ab works to that schedule. Core training is too often overlooked, but is it one of THE most beneficial things you can do for yourself.

As I mentioned, you need to figure out what your main priority is and do that FIRST. You obviously wanna lose weight so you need to exhert most of your energy at the gym into cardio. Then if you have any left in the tank, hit the weights.
It just makes no sense to me when people do heavy weights, no cardio and you cannot see any definition. Now if you're trying to be a bodybuilder I can understand, but from the sounds of it, you are not.

one more time...
i am not a built as i want to be yet. im not as muscular as i want to be yet...im not as strong as i want to be yet...im not as big as i want to be yet...
i hope this helps.
THEN ill do cardio, and more reps.
i never said how much weight i lift in the first place or how many reps i do anyway..
i dont want to be skinny and ripped..i want to be big/muscular and ripped.
hence why i lift now,and will do cardio when im happy with my size/strength.

Taken from your very first post, you make it very confusing to the reader. To me this seems like you want to lose fat, but your last post is basically saying you want to build muscle first, then do cardio. Doesnt make any sense bud.

actually i take back the "i want to be ripped" statement. i dont even want to be ripped..i just want to be muscular with a low MAINTAINABLE body fat %.
i dont wanna be low enough in body fat that i have to kill myself year round to stay that way. i want to stay at a comfortable weight/bodyfat/muscle mixture.
u guys keep telling me to do cardio, and telling me i need to get my prioritys straight...which i have done..
i plan to build for the next month, maybe 2 at most, then focus on maintaining muscle, and losing fat.
thats why im not focusing on cardio now. i dont get where that confused anyone.
to some of u i may or may not be muscular enough under my body fat,to myself,im NOT..and thats why i want to build back up to being more muscular, then start cutting down around mid feb.
