Ab Belts

Ok I searched didn't find anything, but I'm also bad at searching

So far I'm at my goal I used to weight 227 now I'm down to 187 What I'm trying to do now is work on those abs without killing my back.

Now I was wondering about those EMS ab belts like these for instance

http://www.thecontour.com/
http://www.theflexbelt.com/abs/?mcp=4333&b=8042

Has anyone tried using anything like this? Does it work?

They're just so expensive so it's like

I do, do ab workouts at gym so I'm not lazy on doing it, it's just I want a little more help with them is all

no. those products are fucking garbage.

fix your diet, and workout harder.

AB's are made in the kitchen. Not in the gym.

Garbage.

My roommate in college ordered one. Waste of money. The only thing it was good for was when I pulled a muscle as I think it mirrored the stimulus I was getting at PT

Diet issue not a gimmick issue.

With that said core work can make your abs look better once you get them to show.

Agree with everything posted thus far.

Ab belts are garbage.

Having your abs show requires you shed body fat% which (usually) requires a substantial change to your diet.

If you keep a good diet and do a variety of ab exercise properly and efficiently (eg: not using machines that take some of the load off, not using other muscles - like your legs or neck - to do some of the work for you), you will see progress. If you're doing them properly and hard enough, you will feel the burn. If they're too easy, you're likely not doing them right or you need to vary the exercise and challenge yourself.

If you want solid ripped abs, learn how to deadlift, squat (front squat, overhead squat), all variations of the clean and snatch, and start using gymnastic rings.

Planks are great also.

In our routine the most exotic ab exercise is doing situps with an Ab-Mat. Not even leg lifts get prescribed. A solid freeweight/bodyweight regimen with no machines forces you to use your abs ALL the time. Situps is the icing on the cake while diet is the core.
