Check out this program for cardio. The link at the bottom of the page gives you the info.

Well that's just week one. The point is to build up endurance as the weeks progress. I'm sure the four minutes is for beginners.

And by sprinting, I'm sure they mean "Go as fast as you possibly can". That's not very safe on a treadmill for beginners, either.

If you read the link at the bottom with the full description, it's supposed to be a very good regimen that'll get you "cut". They condemn long times of cardio and focus on higher intenstiy to get your heart up and jogging as a cool down. It seems to be endorsed over at the bodybuilding.com forum.

I'm a little bit leary of that. Even at your highest intensity, 4 minutes is not enough to burn a sufficient amount of energy to result in the energy deficit needed to lose weight. What it will do is build up your heart strength, but it could also lead to problems for people working out at 98% of max HR. It's simply safer to work out in the 80% range or lower. At that pace, you can keep up the duration longer, burning more energy.

Right, but the repitions increase as high as a total of 7:30 sprinting and the same jogging.

I actually like to do sprints. I find it to be an awesome workout.

I would actually do a variation of this with biking...
30 seconds high resistance standing up pedaling
then 1:00 cooldown with low resistance and sitting down

Do it for a good 30 minutes and your ass is WHOOPED.

Sprinting is good for your muscles. It works the legs so hard that you can actually build muscle doing it. A lot of sprinters have very very firm and somewhat big legs and butts.
