Moving to Hawaii
Anyone in Honolulu? I am moving there nov and am currently in Fort Irwin, CA.

I lived there for 22mo between 2017 and 2019.
Are you military?
If that's the case your housing cost will be significantly cheaper than the usual mainlander and it will help quite a bit. Not having to worry about 1500-2000+ coming out each month just for housing (unless you share a place with someone else)
Usual groceries will be bit higher as are many other mundane daily things. But honestly, if housing cost is not a huge issue, you're good to go.
Yes it is as beautiful as people/wallpaper suggests. Do lot of nature stuff if you know your time is limited (I wish I did more when I was there).
Some people get island fever, hard to visit people on mainland, big time zone difference, amazon prime is useless. Check out the other islands if you can, great hikes/beaches. Some beaches/areas/surf spots can be pretty "territorial" by the locals but you'll learn that as time goes on.
Things are pretty laid back there...including traffic/speeding....its the one place where not everyone was a speed demon. Don't get your blood pressure up, its fine, relax, you're in Hawaii.
