Catch sunrise on Haleakala'. It's a twisty drive and a beautiful view. Bring a warm coat.
Road to Hana is a must, black sand and red sand beach.. and if you have the stones.. Northshore 1-lane all the way to Kahalui.. I think your rental agreement will have a big bold statement that you're not covered in that area. I'm pretty sure that's the least of your concerns if you were to have incident there.
Have a nice vaca.. Eat lots of spam, loco moco, and plate lunch. Choke ono grindz.. and beware of swimming in the ocean during sunset.. tiger sharkes like white meat.

Thanks for the recommendations
I went to the top of Haleakala on Monday, the Road to Hana on Tuesday, and had already explored the northshore drive a week before but I didn't go all the way around to Kahului as I had been warned and I don't like cliff-hanging heights.
I spent Sunday on Little Beach at Makena but that's a whole other story.
