Well I don't konw if this has been discussed but the new TL only comes in auto and to make matters worse there is no SS mode for holding the gears longer!

The TL is not meant to be a real performance vehicle. Maybe they're weaning the auto-owners off of SS so that when they introduce their 6AT they can worry less about idiots grenading their trannys by downshifting too fast. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe 1 out of 100 TL owners actually use the SS.

If you want to hold it in gear longer, wait for the manual transmission.

SS WILL be available with the 09 TL 5AT. This will be in the form of paddle shifters.

I agree, i have only used my SS mode maybe 4 or 5 times in 3 years....I don't like how it automatically goes from 1st to 2nd, without letting you control that...

title changed. As for SS, as of 2007+ cars, the car does not shift up from 1st to second, and the new RL has some pretty reactive paddles, they reduced the time on a bit.
