When will Acura get decent colors!
Ugh... How many shades of gray/silver/etc.. Can't get blue since 2009, and Umber interior requires AWD... Argh... I have no need for AWD. I'd prefer the better mileage FWD.
Probably go with white/ebony. Can't do beige interior on a daily driver.
Sorry, had to vent.

I agree - much less color options for the 2012s. I miss my Abyss Blue Pearl 04 TL (w/ Camel leather). I have a 2011 TL SH-AWD/Tech WDP/Taupe. I actually prefer the Parchment - but it was only available on the base (Taupe is still very nice) . . . but I agree it is strange how they come up with these limitations in color combos.
How do they determine this? Does someone at Acura get paid to do research on which color combinations people are more likely to want (whether they buy the base or AWD or Tech)? You should be able to at least custom order any combo you want. I like Umber, but if I was looking for a base model TL, I don't think I would shell out extra $$$, just for a particular leather color.

Yah... it was the same situation when I bought my 06. And same situation with my wife's Honda Odyssey. That's how I've wound up with a string of silver cars... A cycle I need to break.
I would actually consider going AWD just for the Umber interior, if it weren't for the reduced mileage. I drive about 17-18k a year (all highway), and I would prefer not to go backwards in mileage from what I have now. If you add the additional $$ for AWD + the mileage hit, that's a lot to spend just for an interior color choice.
BMW has some great color choices, but man you pay through the nose if you want the car optioned up. They are almost as bad as Porsche!

Another thing - you're right about the different shades of gray/silver. If you're going to limit color choices, at least provide more options. For SH-AWD/Tech, I believe there's white, black, MBM, and a couple of gray/silvery colors. A blue would have been nice . . or that dark bronze (not sure the name) color on the 07/08 TLs.

I agree. I posted this in another thread yesterday. https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-2009-2014-123/i-need-help-picking-my-color-2012-a-817187/
I mean this with no offense to the Forged Silver owners, but this silver just seems like a color experiment gone wrong. Its a unique color for sure, but its not the familiar silver that most people would want. In certain lights, it almost looks like the Borealis Blue color that was offered on the 09-10 TLs.
And where's our regular blue, Acura? Royal Blue Pearl was one of the nicest colors available. Only was offered for one year- 2009. Very rare color.

Acura does have decent colors, just not very many of them.

On my '91 Legend I had Golden Glow metalic - it was good as gold.
They once had to retouch rear and ordered the paint from Acura which was said to originate in Germany. <???>
Very Original ... Bring Golden Glow back ...

The color/interior combos are one of my biggest gripes with Acura, and they seem to get worse as the years go on...and "worse" as in less choices and combos I am interested in; the colors themselves are pretty nice overall, I feel.

mmm, blue.

Wow, lots of love for blue here
They are cutting way too many corners by focusing only on "popular" colors. That new silver is like silver/blue combined, how cheap can you get Acura?
You want a smart luxury line? You should provide some luxury colors and some more choices. Don't want to commit to producing them up front? How about having some "custom" colors for order?

My point is that no other "luxury brand" offers such a limited color selection.
BMW 3 series - 13 colors
Lexus ES - 10
MB C Class - 10
Audi A4 - 11
Acura TL - 5

It's almost like Acura is content to be the tiny player in the "luxury brand" market.

what are most of y'all talking about luxury cars or sports cars?...............in the luxury segment they don't offer to many crazy colors most common luxury color is BLACK,WHITE,BLUE,GREY,BURGUNDY.................spo rt cars YELLOW,RED,BRIGHT BLUE'S etc etc.....more stand outish colors ............i think acura has made some nice color decisions......thus far.......i do agree that the 2012 has limited colors which does suck ...and that they should've offered the umber in other price options................but as far as saying their colors aren't good that's just like........

For Audi, buyers can get to pick any available color, even across models, for their new vehicles. For example, an A3 buyer can opt for the Red color available on the R8 color chart, for extra charge of course.

Same reason they only have 6 cars to choose from. They indeed seem content with being 3rd.
Speaking of colors, the ZDX has a whopping 4 colors. And they aren't even colors. Nice!

I don't think bright colors would look good on the current line up of Acura's honestly...the brand just needs a refresh

One more newsflash for Acura if they read here..... the Taupe interior does not go with everything!I think someone has taken this economy of sale thing a bit too far. For example, I know that the old Quartz Gray interior that I had in my '06 TL would look a lot better with Forged Silver.

The Forged Silver's silver/blue combo was a plus for me! I love that it changes hues.
