Water Pump Replaced with Timing Belt

Water Pump Replaced with Timing Belt
Dealer is doing my timing belt. They said they would not replace water pump unless they saw an issue. I thought water pump is traditionally replaced when this is done, but they said for some reason they don't usually do it on 4G TL. Does this sound like an issue?

I'd recommend doing it. It's right there and isn't much more. If it needs it in the future, thats more labor.

All mechanics I've talked to always recommend the same. Replace the water pump with timing belt.

The service manual only states to inspect the water pump. However, it's pretty much the norm to go ahead and replace it. I've yet to talk to a mechanic who didn't strongly recommend changing it while doing the timing belt service.
Every Honda and Acura dealer I contacted to get quotes on the 105K service highly recommended replacing the water pump - not because it necessarily goes bad - It's really nothing more than a belt driven turbine. But the seals can begin leaking and the bearing can fail, which would warrant tearing everything down again to replace it. If the seals leak and get coolant on the timing belt, it can cause the belt to fail early which would potentially result in needing a new engine or at the least, some pretty serious head work. Same result with the bearing seizing up. Based on the relatively low cost but high risk, it's a no brainer. They may charge a bit more since they'll have to remove/reinstall the pump as well as drain and refill the coolant. And you'll have to pay the cost of the pump (around $100 I think?) as well as the Honda/Acura coolant.

For? I don't think NGK makes water pumps. Only ignition products such as spark plugs and ignition coils. They also make O2 sensors.
If you're referring to spark plugs, the NGK Laser Iridium are the way to go.
