Transmission Fluid check the right way.
 

Acura TL SHAWD 6 speed automatic my manual says 3.3 qts for a drain and fill for a transmission fluid change okay. To check the fluid you have to start the car wait until the radiator fan comes on and make sure your on level ground then shut the car off at normal operating temperature and read the dipstick and it should read in between the two dots did all that 3 or 4 times and got a different reading way below the 1st dot not way below but enough to make me say what the heck? Then I decided to do it my way the way I use to at the garage took my car for a spin let the fluid get really nice and hot stopped at a gas station on level ground .When the car was idling I went through the gears P R N D S then back S D N R P checked it again still low ya a little anal but I want it to be right and it went up a little. Took it for a spin again did the same thing this time I added the whole qt bringing the total to 4qts checked it and the fluid was perfect checked it 3 or 4 time and it was right where it was supposed to be right in between the two dots. I should have took note that when I drained it out a gallon came out 1 gallon = 4 qts the thing is I was doing what the manual was telling me and it was wrong. so note to sell watch how much fluid comes out then
put the same amount back in and check 2 to 3 times.

you have to check the fluid when the car is at operating temp, and within 90 seconds of shutting off the engine.

Yes did all that shift through all the gears shut off the car waited 60 seconds but no more than 90 seconds and checked it. Right after 60 seconds with the transmission fluid hot I have a 3.7 fluid was perfect right where was supposed to be.

Mine takes 4 quarts to fill after a drain to get the proper level measured as stated in owner manual.

Mine also takes about 4qts. if I let it drain for a little while (since you have that little stream continuing for a good 30 minutes or so). I always measure how much comes out then put the same amount back in.

On that note however, I personally don't think being slightly high or low is really as bad as some say it is. I've been a little high or low and never experienced any problems. It's sort of like oil; the engineers likely designed the transmission to be able to cope just fine with the stated ATF volume +/- half a qt. or so.
