TL 2012 Still 4G or really a 5G?

No, its the MMC. With your logic the 3G Type-S is the 4G. The 09-11 TL is the 5G and the 12 is the 6G.

MMC - its religion with Honda products. Minor Model Change
You'll see every product line, about 3-4 years into it's life, get a refreshed set of lights, new grille, some exterior appointments, different rims, updated interior, maybe a little bump in power or an enhanced feature model. It's still the same core chassis and vehicle, just refreshed. Generations don't change until it's new chassis time.

a generation change is like a 2008 to a 2009 model. they dont even look alike..
also, we can all agree that anyone or everyone will take a SH-AWD over a Type-S any day.....

Acura usually does follow up with a Type S in the final years of a generation run. But under the current circumstances regarding lack of sales and many car buyers finding the 4G a little hard on the eyes, IMHO Acura is placing all of their financial resources into the 5G so they can pick up lost market share they lost. Hopefully they'll produce a winner and produce the amount of TLs as they did with prior generations.

2G TLX-S
The TL is on the typical Honda 5-year product design cycle.
So the MY 09-11 for the 4G TL stretched from Sept 08 to Feb 11, which is exactly 1/2 way through the 4G's 5-year cycle.
The MMC 4G TL is just a refreshed update of the 4G cycle which will stretch from Mar 11 to ~Aug 13 (MY 12-13).
Expect the completely revamped 5G TL to debut in ~Sept 13 as a 2014 MY model.

The audi owning, bmw owning acura haters who visit this forum would never come up to me or any other man in a garage and say the things they post here about the 4g....because they're fear based people who hide behind aliases. that they visit the forum of cars they don't own is an indication of how empty their lives must be.

And just what kind of SPLASH did the 3G make.. or any model of Acura? It's obvious that you just love to dog the 4G, for whatever joy it brings you but that does not change the way the rest of us enjoy our cars, the car that will have more trade-in value that your BMW and is more reliable. To all lovers of the 4G, I don't hate the Acura TL and I am a past owner. I've been a member of this site since 2004 which is longer then most who post here. I was one of many who was waiting on the 4G and didn't care for the new style and went in a different direction. In my case, it was BMW as you can see.
I understand the stronger reliabilty rating Acura has over BMW, but this was not enough reason for me and many other past TL owners to purchase a 4G and a design which forced us to go in a different direction with our cash. Just a FYI, my last TL had over 150k on her when I sold it and was awesome in every way except for the 3 trannys which was Acura's Achilles Heel for 4+ years. I kept my first BMW till she turned 225k without one problem other then a piece of window trim being replaced. BMW's Achilles Heel was the HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump) which has been corrected with the 2011 F10 and no issues over the past year it's been out.
There are many who like a driving a car which is different then any other on the road. This is great for you, but Acura is not in the business to build cars in low numbers, it's all about units and profits.
I wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

I don't believe you. I make my money online and it’s ripe with people like you and TechnoCat. There is no earthly reason for you to over here with your 111 posts (been here longer? Where were you? Why activity now?) and repeatedly say the same things over and over...."the TL is ugly." The subtext of which is that your morally and intellectually superior so you need to inform us TL primitives of that which we don't know.
Screw this place. The ugliest least informative forum I've ever been on.

Those same posters have stuck around because contrary to your astute observation, the community here is very informative and friendly. Keep an open mind and you may just experience what many of us enjoy about the boards.

I'm well aware of the arguments in this subforum. And I'm not an Acura hater, quite the opposite. I currently own THREE and have owned five. Plus Accords, Civics and a Prelude.

Believe it when I say, "I wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!". Just because we don't agree with each other doesn't mean I want harm to come to you or anyone. Have a safe holiday weekend.

Acura once was truly a great bang for the buck car. With the 3G the style improved nicely as well and they finally dropped that BOSE POS sound system. But with their price on the incline they are slipping into range of other luxury cars and they are standing out in the bang for the buck niche they once dominated. The only way Acura stands out now is that the majority of people don't find them attractive. While there are some people on this forum that claim to like the looks of of the 4G TL or claim that they like driving a car that no one else wants, unless those people are willing to buy 2 or 3 TLs of the current design each year - the TL will have to be redesigned soon.
I love what the previous 2 generation TLs represent and hope they turn their ship around and regain what they once had. It is OK that other manufacturers are stepping in to fill that void but something in me wants Acura to regain that role. No matter how much lipstick they put on the current TL it just isn't going to be a hot looking car.

What the heck does all this blah blah blah blah have to do with whether the '12 is 4G or 5G? You guys never miss the opportunity to throw in your opinions about the 4G, Acura sales, BMW, Audi....etc... sheesh

I guess there isn't much to talk about the 4G TL, other than those.
The 4G TL has very limited (almost next to nil) aftermarket performance parts and upgrades that we can start some new topics on, unlike the 2G's and the 3G's.

This site is no different then any other site when it comes to bantering back and forth between Cool Aid fans, Doom and Gloom fans, and members who actually bring value and post worthy subject matter.
I'm a member of this site, BMW, and Porsche and it's much of the same, a little less on Porsche and a little more on Acura.
Being virtually every third party car review of the 4th Generation TL points out the grill, beak, tooth, whatever, there will always be lovers and haters of the 4G.
Oh, and Glashub can use a hug....

4G can be a happy place for all the owners/enthusiasts. You guys just need to ignore people/posters. This is the internet. Everyone is invited to participate here. We welcome it. Some of you just need to not take the bait.
