Is there any truth to target demographics?

First off, I desperately tried finding the original article I read way back when that stated something along the lines of the TL target demographics being male, in his forties, professional and makes $100k/year while the AWD SH is all of that but makes $150k/year.

I wasn’t able to find it.

I love my car, and I went to Acura to purchase a used 4th gen TL specifically. Did my friends look at my car and ask why? Absolutely. But they don’t know what it’s like to drive an Acura for so many years.. just couldn’t picture myself being happy with anything else. Driving my 04 for so long and just loving it, I just couldn’t picture wanting to be in anything else, I had to get a newer TL.

Ideally I would have loved to have a TLX but I couldn’t afford it honestly.

The pre owned TLs go really fast on the lot at Acura, or at least they did in my city. I originally was going to pick up a Borealis Blue one but it drove off the lot as I arrived and they told me they had a couple others I could look at. Living in Arizona, I didn’t want another black car but mine was the only other certified used TL on the lot and I sure as fuck wasn’t about to leave in an ILX.

So I’m just curious, who really fits the demographics?

Brand new; there's no way an 18 year old could afford a $35-40k car.
thus, Acura set sights on a demographic that COULD afford the car, BRAND new.

however, it doesnt mean shit on the used market, because used models cost pennies. and anyone with pennies can pick one up.

I never looked at it from a financial stand point more like the age and lifestyle of the person who owns it. But what you’re saying is accurate.

financial standings are apart of age.
as we get older, we're supposed to increase net worth and income.
