Suction Cup Mounting

I would like to mount a suction cup holder for a cell phone in the TL, but the place I want to put it is not smooth enough to get a good seal.

I want the cup sealed to the flat area in front of the non-nav display screen, but there is just enough texture to prevent the seal from lasting more than a few seconds.

I don't want to mount it to the glass above the display screen if at all possible.

Can anyone think of some kind of smooth film that I could adhere to the plastic in that spot to allow a suction cup mount and then I can remove the film when I turn the lease in?

Obviously, I have the non-nav (mine is much flatter than in this pic), so this pic is not accurate but this is the spot I want to mount a suction cup holder:

Thats where i have my suction cup for my iPhone 5 > I have the following holder:

http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-HLCRIO104-Windshield-Dashboard-Holder/dp/B0099RGRT8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1389853603&sr=8-4&keywords=ottie+iphone+5 http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-HLCRIO104-Windshield-Dashboard-Holder/dp/B0099RGRT8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1389853603&sr=8-4&keywords=ottie+iphone+5

its not blocking none of the display as its on corner section with the phone sticking out. I will take a picture of it so you can see.

As for the cup, it has only fallen once but thats because i pull the phone to hard. The suction cups on those ottie's rock.

I am truly only looking for an adhesive disc I can stick to that area to mount the suction cup I already have. I have the Motorola mount that came with the phone that automatically puts the phone in "car mode" etc.. so I am not looking for new suction cup, only some type of surface I can put down to adhere the suction cup to. I live in Arizona so the car will be getting pretty hot in the summer, although it is normally garaged, etc.. Going to the mall in July I will have to leave the car out in the heat (obviously the phone will be removed from it)...

Honestly, some really thick clear adhesive film (like fog light film) would be fine if I could ensure the film would stay stuck to the horizontal surface in the heat of summer.

http://www.proclipusa.com/accessorie..._leftorright=0 might work, anyone know if this is removable when i turn in the lease?

I just put one of these in the exact same spot yesterday. Works like a charm so far.

As an alternative, have you considered the vent mounts instead?

Do you use the vent mounts? If so, do you have a picture and does it cause you any issues with airflow, etc.?

I had the vent mounts in an older Pathfinder, but I had it in the passenger side vent.

I don't use the vent mount anymore but I have used them on my previous car (11 Honda Oddy). With the climate control on auto, I don't think there were too much air flow from the vents so really haven't had any issues.

I think it was the following...

I am in arizona, so no way the vent mount will work. Those bad boys get a workout 9 months out of the year...

I will get a proclip/dashboard disc and see if the adhesive holds up in the heat.

I tried both the Garmin vent mount

Amazon.com: Garmin Air Vent Mount: GPS & Navigation Amazon.com: Garmin Air Vent Mount: GPS & Navigation

and the Arkon vent mount

Amazon.com: Arkon GN047 Removable Swivel Air Vent Mount for Garmin nuvi GPS: GPS & Navigation Amazon.com: Arkon GN047 Removable Swivel Air Vent Mount for Garmin nuvi GPS: GPS & Navigation

and neither worked due to the angle of the vents on the TL. I'm returning both of them.
