Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me troubleshoot some problem with my 2010 TL awd. It's been just over a month and it's giving off some weird whistling/chirping sound. Only happens when the car is in motion. And doesn't happen until after about 10 minutes of driving from a cold start. I showed it to a couple of mechanics and they couldn't figure out or fix the problem.

At about the 8 second mark the sound becomes audible.


I've tried pressing on gas on neutral or park, but doesn't give that sound. I've also done a brake stand and nothing comes up. Only when it's in motion and only after about 10-15 minutes of driving from a cold startup. When I brake and bring the car to a halt it goes away.


Has anyone had this issue before or does anyone know what could be causing this? I would really appreciate any kind of help, thanks.

That wouldn't be the propeller shaft by any chance....no?

That definitely sounds like the propeller shaft. I had the same problem and it was replaced by the dealer under warranty. Hope your still under warranty, its a bit expensive.

I've been hearing a very similar noise on my 09 shawd. Comes and goes and unfortunately I couldn't duplicate the sound when I got it serviced at my dealer. Usually as soon as I get above 20 mph it starts.

I am getting the same sound on my 2012...mine though is only happening when I am at a stop...and the car is fairly cold...???

It sounds like the propeller shaft. I would hear the same sound when I reached 30-40 mph. My propeller shaft was replaced on my 2012 tl-awd and sound is gone.
