Squealing noise from front of car
Hey guys,
I’m hoping someone has run into this problem and can help me. I’ve recently noticed a squealing/whistle sound coming from the front of my car. It only happens when I’m driving about 40 km/hr or higher then stops when I get below 40 km/hr. I thought it was a bearing issue but most mechanics are telling me it’s not. I decided to replace the front passenger bearing and it’s still making the same noise. Not sure if I should go and try and replace my driver side bearing... There’s still a lot of brake pads left just to rule that out as well. I drive a 2009 Acura TL SHAWD and it has about 170k km on it. Thanks all! |

Sorry forgot to mention I also just changed the accessory belt and have tried revving the engine in idle but no sounds. Kinda sounds like metal brushing on metal causing the squeal.

- Most likely source of noise is the pulley on tension arm. I change mine every time I change the belt.
- Could be alternator. Mine made a squealing noise when it failed. - Reverify that the belt is installed correctly. - Turn AC off and if the squeal is still there that eliminates the AC compressor as the culprit. |
Would it make noise in idle for the alternator? Cause mine doesn’t. It only makes a noise when driving.

Apparently my mechanic is now saying it’s the drive shaft. I do hear some noise coming from there when we spin the wheels... I hope it’s not the problem since those are apparently quite pricey.

I have a 2012 TL Elite and had the exact same whining noise.
It was the propeller shaft. |
