Quick question about switchbacks for 2012 TL

Hi guys,

I researched about led switchbacks on front amber lights for 2012 TL but I could not find a clear answer.

Some People on this forum mentioned that 3157 w/ CK base type only would fit on 2012+ TLs.

but there is no actual confirmation if this is true or not.

Can anybody confirm especially those of who already have gone through this on their 2012+ TLs?

Thanks!

yo,

not sure if it will fit, i just took a deeper look into it, then turn signal bulbs are 1157A type bulb.

you need round socket bulbs with dual function

Nah Pot. I have the '12. you need the CK type fixture, not the socket. 3157 bulbs, not 1157A.

Those are really expensive. I ordered these when I bought them for myself. They're pretty bright and work great the past year and a half. You also need to order resistors as well, or you're gonna hyperflash.

I had issues with the splice tabs. They wouldn't cut into the rubber casing of the wires. (the 12's have thicker wires or something) I went ahead and did a military splice on the cables and it's been perfect ever since. You won't have alot of space to work with if you don't take the bumper off. I recommend taking it off to save you loads of frustration. It's -very- easy to take it off, no worries.

(btw if you didn't catch the link earlier: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/3157-3457-4...157_sku_3c.htm)

I already investigated this bulb. However igdmtoy only has 6k which might generate bluish white color. I am looking for 5k.

where did you get this military splice you are talking about?

the splice tabs I am getting is this one..

My light is white, let me take a picture for you, give me a few minutes. Military splice is a technique, you don't need any parts for that.

You can try the wire splicers, and see if they work well. If not do the military splice. I used liquid electrical tape to bind everything together, then wrapped with gorilla tape to give it a rigid structure. It's pretty much weather-proof right now.

and you're not going to find an LED in a 5000k Tint... unless you find a rare warm white but they are closer to 4300k and I've never seen them in a Switchback for that matter...
