Protection and lubrication rubber parts

Hi, Guys
New England winter is coming. dry, cold and it will be a lot of salts on the road.
Do you guys use anything to prevent rubber parts like bushing from cracking and failure ?
any recommendation ?

dont think any one greases up boots for the winter?

In Texas we dont, because we dont have a winter.

anyway, if you really really really wanted to grease up boots, cant go wrong with white lithium grease.....

You might be doing more harm than good, I've heard of lubricants causing damage to rubbers from expansion. I'd just leave them alone if I were you.

I would only use silicone spray if you were gonna do it. wd-40 makes some. I've used it on my windows, works well.

Something else I can add to my list though :-D

If you soak in silicone spray, yes. Rubber can expand a lot if you over-spray silicone

I spray my window seals before and after winter. The weather makes the rubber seals mess with the window friction and rolling the windows back up can be difficult. After cleaning and lubing the rubber seals windows never get stuck in winter.

Wow, surprised no one mentioned it yet.

Shinetsu grease from Honda. It's recommended for S2000/NSX door/targa/hardtop/softop rubber seals and does fantastic at rejuvenating the stuff.

Honda Automotive Parts

Comes in a toothpaste tube

Found some guys on AZ using it:

It's not terribly expensive and the tube lasts practically forever (I'm on my first one still and have used it for years)

I don't think he should be putting it on bushings, but around all of the door seals, sunroof, trunk, etc? Absolutely. That's what it's designed for.

Or looks like ~$15 from Amazon.

Thanks guys for recommendation.

come up with concern that dirt, dust or sands would stick on rubber bushings after applying those grease, it may potentially cause the damage when the bushings are moving along with the joints.

For your bushings, use AT-205 Re-Seal.
