Painted grill on my 12 TL SH-AWD

so I purchased a new grill and trunk piece to paint. When I install the new stuff I’m gonna paint the old ones to sell.

I sanded lightly with 400 grit followed be wet sand 800 grit. Than cleaned pieces with a paint prep cleaner. Let dry over night. Than applied Bulldog adhesive promoter and than etching primer. Lightly sand with dry 800 grit, tact cloth each piece. Than applied 3 layers of top coat and 3 of clear. It turned out great. Now a free a few days curing I will install.

Looks amazing! What were you thinking of charging? I may be interested... I could buy your second set and mail you mine if you're thinking about keeping the train going and make some extra cash.

That is exactly what I was thinking is to sell a set into receive someone’s old set back so I can continue to keep that going. Before I do that I want to check the durability of the ones I currently did to make sure there’s no issues. I’m not exactly sure what I’m thinking about charging just yet I have to see what my investment is first. I am not looking To make a fortune just to help out others who want that same custom look. I will let you know something shortly.

did you do this with factory paint color matched to your car? if so, where did you get the paint, and how much did you end up using? i'm curious because I am trying to do the same thing with the white diamond pearl that my '09 is.

i found this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Acura-TL-...ruck/747524047 but i have some serious doubts if it's the same WDP i'm looking for. the color code is the same and everything, but something about getting it from walmart rubs me the wrong way.

Well I purchased the factory paint on eBay. I seen the spec sheets and it’s good stuff. I bought a pint and had a lot left over.
The guy sells the clear coat also.

Looks great man, let us know how it holds up.

I wrapped my front grill in 3M vinyl wrap, but to be honest it looks like crap. It was my first time, and I really should have taken the grill off the bumper first. "Good from far, but far from good!"

Looks great!

The front of your car looks familiar.... almost like I've seen it somewhere before.

Those grille and bumper trim pieces look so much better when paint matched... or at least blacked out for contrast. Nice job!
