I see some articles suggesting more performance but does that translate to HP gains and the TL SH-AWD being a little faster than 5.5 secs and 13.9 in the quarter dash? I sure hope so seing that there won't be a Type S as many are suggesting for the 4th generation. Even the service manager said that Acura has been very hush hush about the 2012 release but was wary of a TYPE S being released at least in the 4th generation cycle. Any ideas people of what they mean by more performance and possible more HP than the current 305HP 3.7 liter engine? If you guys google it you will see what I am talking about.

Funny no Type-S?
Well looks like AWD with Advance, wonder what that puts the sticker at, I'm guessing $48K-$49K. That is getting kind of steep for a TL?

Looks like a fifth color option for the 6MT, but no interior color other than black (i.e., no more Taupe or Umber interiors for the 6MT).
This is one real beef I have with Acura. They tell us the take rate on MTs is low, but it's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy if the color selections are so limited.
OTOH, at least Acura's still giving us a 6MT. BMW and Infiniti both offer them (theoretically) for the 5 and G respectively, but at least where I live an MT is almost impossible to find in either car.

$49k is a bit ridiculous for a TL, even with the advanced package. Value proposition.. gone.. lets hope that just makes it easier to haggle.
so did u figure out what to do yet keith? I'm still not sure if i can stomach the loss for a 2012 TL being that i've only had mines for about 9 months so far, and the first shipments arrive in april.
My Base Tech right now is worth about $32k on KBB right now, so assuming I haggle and get similar pricing, I'd pay $49k OTD, which means I'd need another $17k to upgrade...... maybe i'll just wait for the 5GTL or something else.
As for performance, the 6 speed cut approximated 1 second off the 0-60 time for the MDX. My guesstimate would be the TL being a solid 5.5 car, maybe faster. At least the auto will have no trouble keeping up with the auto G37 (which currently does 0-60 in 5.4-5.6 sec).
Regardless, when it comes out, i'll go look at it. I just hope i can resist the urge to buy again so soon

Exactly... 50k for a TL... at that point, so many other great cars are in the new and used department that you can pick up. But, I'm keeping mine for a very long time as my DD. My plan is to pick up something else for the summer to have fun in in the next few years.

I've pretty much decided I'm buying a SHAWD 6MT this spring. I really like my 2004 MT, but the mileage is getting up there. The only question will be 2011 with ugly nose but probably cheaper price versus 2012 with less ugly nose and higher price.
As much as I would like ventilated seats, I'm not sure shelling out for the "advance" package will be worth it.

While I am very happy about the new changes in the 2012 MY, I feel a little bit cheated that within a year of buying the 2010 TL, I pretty much lose out on one whole year of MY change and go straight to 2012 MY...... sigh! Maybe I should have waited for this after all..... oh well, hindsight is 20/20!!!

Hmmm...I'm extremely happy to see that Acura is unveiling its 2012 TL model soon! We've been anxiously waiting for that, haven't we?
I'll be in the market for a new car soon but I must confess the value proposition is better to be as good as it was back in 2008-2009. With the advance package, you're looking at a 53-54 000 $ CDN for a loaded TL with sales tax, it'll be 60-62 000 $ CDN. That quite a hefty price but still better than a G37 coupe or any of the comparable Germans.
I'm eager to see the changes, especially in the performance department!

Yea I was thinking with the addition of the 6 speed auto that would help a bit and it appears like it will have a slight horsepower bump. I am anxious to see what the exterior enhancements and engine tweaks look like in photos and spec sheet. Guess we'll have to wait. Those suckers don't want to release anything on the car.
Wonder if it had LED lights if it would make it look that much better.

What it does look like is the front bumper protrudes out further as opposed to current 4G's more flush with the grille/headlights. This will probably look more "traditional" but lengthens the car even more.
Regarding the higher MSRP I still think TL is moving upmarket and the new "refined" V6 TSX is filling the 3G TL's niche. If you think about it the dimensions are nearly identical, you just have to get over the fact that it is a TSX and not a TL.
With the rumored sub-TSX model coming I think Acura's strategy is:
sub-TSX model = old TSX
new TSX = 3G TL ~ G37/A4/BMW3/MB-C
4G TL ~ M37/A6/BMW5/MB-E
new RL ~ A8/BMW7/MB-S ??? Do they dare? we shall see I guess.
Still would be nice to see the NSX resurrected as a more affordable car. I think you need a impractical flagship that makes people drool and envy the car, and hence provide a trickle-down effect to the rest of the brand.

New colors? -- whats with the weird names
Bellanova White Pearl
Forged Silver Metallic
Graphite Luster Metallic
??
All the other colors are carry overs... CRP, MBM, and BRP
Looks like the white lost some of its cream / off white and went more bright white...

Would love to see a 2-dr coupe again and a NSX successor. I don't, however see them building a V-8 any time soon due the economy. Hponda/Acura is one of the most streamlined car companies when it comes to production models. Toyota/Lexus/Scion numerous models and as is the other Asian car manufacturer Nissan/Infinit.

I'm gathering to fix what was thought to be some bad colors for the 4G, I hated my PMM but found all the 4G colors dull and muted in anything other than bright sunny days. I miss Moroccan Red Peral and Carbon Bronze!

I can't wait to go to the NYAS this year so I can see what the 2012 TL looks like. I'm sure the current style won't change except for tweaking the front and rear facias a bit.
And beside the 6 speed AT I really don't think they are going to boost the HP even though a car this heavy could sure use it.

I agree I dont see too much styling changes - just front and rear - w/ the grill much like the tsx wagon and / or the RL 2011 grill refresh. which maybe in a sense like the prev bmw 5 series change to the current style - sometimes I think the last gen 5 series is a newer look than the current car.
Six spd auto - sure - hp - nope if anything < than 10 incr, advance - pkg - vent seats, collision avoid deal?, turning headlights? magnetic shocks - would be nice - SH-AWD - firm when you need it and cush when just going down the street,
so far as colors - my SH-AWD color BB - was gone after the 1st year.
one thing they could add - others have on non - hybrid cars - is an engine stop at stoplights - TL mileage in the city is pretty bad - I bet that would do more than the 1 or 2 mpg the 6Spd auto will give - but that prob wont be until the 5G

If it's true that Acura will not produce a Type-S model because the SH-AWD model acts as a Type-S, then we'll probably never see a Type-S model again, because I doubt SH-AWD is going anywhere!

And let's not forget the exhaust tips. I never really liked the the wheels on the Type-S. I like the gunmetal color but not the design of the wheel. Everything else right on.

Maibe this is old news to many here, but will it look like the TSX? At least
looking at the camo proportions i get that impression.
Type S would be nice, it would be exempt of the ubiquitous brake squeal and water pump failures plaguing the UberA4 aka Audi (Type)S(4) On top of that you get treated like dirt at Audi dealers. Poll on audizine showed less than 20% of those 60k car buyers ever even get a courtesy car.
I say TL AWD 6MT or 2012 Golf R, i need a civilized racer, but please Acura remove the horrendous bumps in the trunk and make the rear seat foldable, we have families too!
