Newbie looking to buy TL 6mt

Hello everyone. I drove a 2012 automatic FWD today. Loved the car but would like to find a manual transmission TL, 09-14. My question is, how do you go about finding one for sale? I searched Autotrader nationwide and didn't find but maybe 7 or 8 under $20k. Any other suggestions on where to look?

On a side topic, do any of the 6mt TL's have ventilated seats?

As far as I am aware, manual only available in tech package not the elite/advance package. Thus no ventilated seats.

They're not easy to find. When I was shopping around, one popped up here in the SLC area and it sold in 1 day.

As others have said, they're tough to find. Probably less than 5% of total production (note, there was no 6MT for 2009 MY). All you can do is search and be patient. You'll likely have to travel to get the car you want, but in my opinion, the 6MT elevates an already very good car to a different level. Good luck.

Thanks for chiming in everyone and it's good to hear they're worth it. Anyone have any other site suggestions besides Craigslist and Autotrader?

I was able to find mine by searching the "group" site my local Acura dealer is part of. Some dealers arent part of automotive groups but the one dealer i found was.
Ie: OPEN Road Acura is where i found it a few years back. I found the car on Open Road auto group website. It wasnt listed on Open road acura website or Autotrader, yet.
I was prepared to travel a few hours to get the manual but only had to go 30 miles!!
If u can grab one its a no brainer. Great car and fun to drive. Good luck

Earlier this year I embarked on what turned out to be a four and a half month search for a clean 3G TL with the 6MT; Craig's List, AutoTrader, and LOTS of patience will rule the day.

When I was looking for my 4G I searched the dealer ads on Edmunds.com.

The only reason I have a 6 speed 4G is because I worked for Acura back in 2013 and came upon one of the last '14 MT vehicles they had available for an employee lease program. I paid very little each month for 36 months then purchased the car outright late last year. I wouldn't have had the opportunity to get into one of these fine vehicles unless I worked for Acura and had the chance to pay so little for such an amazing car. Period.
I love my 6 speed, it's the best car I've owned thus far. Be patient, yours will present itself eventually. Good luck,

-greg

If you are willing to drive anywhere in the country, you could find one you want.

I have been looking as well but not much luck so far. But I am very picky. I drive 20k miles a year and I would like one under 45k miles. It also has to be Acura certified pre-owned. It was not that hard to find me a 3G TL 6MT back in the day, but it seems a lot harder to find a 4G one. I am sure Acura sold much less 4G 6MT's than 3G.

I am no expert on this, but I would say a lot less 4g were sold compared to 3g and even less when you look at the manuals.

North of the border, I used autotrader when looking for mine. Slim pickings for sure. Most of them were in Québec. The ones in Ontario were higher mileage ones comparatively. I ended up traveling 6 hours for mine..of course a few days before I went to pick up the car, one popped up an hour from me, it had less mileage and was cheaper to boot. I didn't want to back out of the deal I had already made...i would have saved a few G's even after losing the deposit. The only thing to make me feel better is that I don't really like the colour of the one that was closer to me.

Patience is key.

Be willing to look everywhere. Also, make friends with the guys on the boards. They may assist you if you find a car that's near where they live. They can go and check it out before you make the trip out...

Good luck.

+1 on cargurus. That is how I found my 6mt 3G TL. It was on a back lot, not the main lot, like a place where cara go that don't sell after 90 days. It had some cosmetic issues when I bought it.

Anywho, they had TWO 3G TL 6mt cars when I went to look and they just threw me the keys and said test drive both and let us know what you think

Like flipper said... patience is key! Took me over year to find mine... At first I bought a 2012 Tech AT... Traded it for 2012 Tech MT with 25k kilometers... payed a prime for the 6sp MT but I dont regret it!

Happy hunting!

Not to start a flame war (!) but I find the idea of a standard shift TL to be a bit odd. It's such a big heavy boat.
I've never driven one though.
I do have a 2010 TL auto trans of course and I think it's a very, very good car and I enjoy driving it, but it's a limo, not a sports car.
It is certainly fun to drive a manual and my past stick shifters include a 54 Pontiac 3 on the tree, a 69 340 Dart with 4 on the floor,
a Mazda B2000 5 speed, a 5 speed 99 Integra and a 2012 BMW 135i 6MT. The 135i is a real hot rod with an excelllent clutch and shifter but it's a small car and more appropriate for a standard. There are pros and cons to both types of transmission, obviously, but what is it really like to drive such a huge car with a manual?

Oddly enough, the Integra with FWD had a shifter every bit as good as the BMW with RWD, maybe better.
I sometimes wish I had that car back.

Hmmm, not sure what weight has to do with a manual transmission and the ability to enjoy driving a vehicle so equipped, I mean, my 2006 TL 6MT weighs 3,483 pounds, a 2012 TL 6MT weighs almost exactly 400 pounds more while my son's 1990 F-150 with the 4.9 liter I6/5MT combination weighs about 450 pounds more than that. To my way of thinking, if driving my TL and his F-150 is a superior driving experience compared to their Automatic equipped siblings, then a 4G TL would also be a superior drive.

In addition to the advantages that MT aficionados prefer in a manual-equipped car, the TL with MT offers different suspension tuning, different motor mounts, heavier duty drive shafts, different AWD and EPS power steering tuning. It adds up to a livelier car that feels a lot lighter on its feet than its 3800 pounds would suggest.

Someone might be selling his 06 6 speed soon. I would have to go back and find the thread if you're interested.

He's looking at buying a bigger car.

The 6MT is absolutely not a Limo and is totally a Sports Luxury ride.
I have owned an Evo , I still own my 3000GT VR4, both AWD Turbo.

The torque vectoring, minimal body roll, weight distribution, powerband all make the weight a non issue. If your into modifying your vehicle, there is unsprung weight to be loss and tuning to be done.
The TL replaced my 99 Prelude SH with lots of work done to it, i loved its handling and how nimble it was. It had Front Torque Vectoring as well, the TL does not disappoint.
I chose my TL over an Audi S4 and a G37, drove them both , they were cool. The TL gave me that feeling of unexpectedness, I thought I knew what I was about to test drive, I was happily mistaken.

Had to have it!

What I notice over the years is the 6 speed guys and the auto guys just have two different reviews or mindset about the car. But I agree with your statement.
