New TL SH AWD Elite owner

Hello all!

After almost 4 months of searching for “the one” the day has finally come! Today I brought home a 2012 TL SH AWD with the Elite package (US Advance pkg). She’s black on black with only 65km (40k miles) and in great shape inside and out.

Wanted to thank all the knowledgeable members of this site for encouraging my pursuit of becoming a 4G TL owner and for sharing all their experiences along the way!

Im excited to own this beautful car and look forward to treating her right

Here are some pics from today:

Nice car. Make sure to get that flat fixed lol. I have the same car, only a ‘13. For the winter I got some winter wheels so the 19’s don’t get messed up. I found it rides much better in winter on 18’s.

Thanks guys!!
So day one of ownership I planned on taking her on a 5 hr road trip from Toronto to Pittsburgh.. minutes after getting on the highway I get a flat and had to tow back to the Acura dealership ( no nail or puncture.. the sidewall just exploded!). No 19” Goodyear in stock so had to postpone the trip and leave her overnight. Tire ordered the next day and alignment re done (talk about bad luck)!

Get caught in a blizzard up in Erie and at this point really kicking myself for not having winters on! The awd really puts in work but still not enough to get through that mess confidently. Besides that, I really got to get a good feel of the cars power and how it hugs the road - truly fell in love with it and is like nothing I drove before.

They charged me cost +10 and didn’t charge any labour bc I had picked the car up only the day before... I’m glad it was just the tire and no other damage

Thanks!

couple questions for you guys:

1. Is it normal for the tire pressure numbers to fluctuate? Turned it on the morning and it said rear left low, then went away... it’s really cold where I live so I was thinking this was the reason.

2. Any way to get rid of the yellow looking drls? I really like the look of the bluish hid when you turn on the lights and keep those on. Drl hid upgrade? Or is there a way to wire the lights to take the place of the drl?

3. Any way to change the tire pressure units from kpa to psi?

thats all I can think of for now.. sorry if this stuff has been covered in the past but would appreciate some advice/opinions if you have em

thanks guys!!

1. yes when its cold out the pressure will go down, especially if its really cold. Then when you start driving the tires heat up a bit, increasing the pressure. If its saying its low when u first start the car then u may want to add a bit. What kpa does it say when u start it? Mine is like 225 when started then will go up to about 250 when driving.

2. Yes you can get LED drl kits in whatever color u like.

3. No you cannot change it from kpa to psi which really sucks. I hate kpa... im like 250 kpa??!!?! WHAT IS THAT I ONLY KNOW PSI LOL.... youll get used to it.

Awesome thanks! When I turned the car on this morning the rear left showed 177 while the others were between 228-235 so I actually filled it with some air and all is good, tire pressure low indicator turned off. And thanks, I will look into the drls. Btw.. your build thread has been a huge inspiration for me buying this car been following it for a while, dope car man!

Hey!The Elite package is essentially the tech package with heated AND ventilated seats, blind spot monitoring system, and bigger 19inch rims. In the US the ‘Elite’ package is called the ‘Advance’ package.

Thanks man! I’m thinking about doing some yellow or hid fogs, along with the drls. Also good thinking with the 17s on winters! I love these 19” elite wheels, gives the act a more sporty/aggressive look, however they do ride rough and I feel every bump on a decently paved road. This is the first 4G I’ve driven so not sure how it compares to a 17/18” setup.I definitely want to keep this wheel set up, but would also like the ride to be a bit more ‘smooth’. For anyone that knows.. would changing to a good 19inch summer tire in the spring make a difference? (if so could you recommend the ‘smoothest’)... currently on Goodyear eagle 240/45/19.C
