The new 4G is here......from Nissan.....
4G owners that are thinking about replacing their car and do not want to "upgrade" ( ) to a TLX but at the same time are not ready to go up significantly in price and still want to drive something that look different and unique in a sea of me-tooism, here is the car for you, the new Nissan Maxima.

Unfortunately there is no AWD and the only transmission choice is the CVT (Nissan promised that it has been improved a lot for sporty driving).
The 3.5 liter now pumps out 300 horses.
I actually like it a lot and gives me the same vibe as the 4G when it did come out.....nothing else like it on the road.
I like even better the interiors.....judgement on the design is subjective obviously however, from a materials and richness point of view, the cabin look very very impressive for a car costing 40K in its top trim (Platinum)....leather covered upper door panels, Alcantara insert and Alcantara headliner, padded and contrast stitched console....it puts to shame cabins of cars costing much more...the TLX interiors look like an econobox by comparison....

I want to like the new Maxima but it looks like a complete styling mess to me. I wouldn't even call its styling bold. It just looks like the parts don't blend well. I see some Kia Optima near the C pillar. I don't think they got this one right but to each his own. It may sell very well but I wouldn't want it.

Nice interior but the exterior is absolutely hideous, everything from that ugly lip grill, stupid protruding tail lights and lines that are sweeping forward!! wtf were they thinking on this one?

I always liked the styling of the previous gen Maxima's - classic with a muscular stance. This one is certainly "modern" looking but the lines are going every which way - from some angles (up above) it looks okay - from other angles it's a confusing mish-mash of curves. Meh - I give them points for being "bold" but it's not for me. Maybe they're aiming for the younger 20 something crowd???

Not really feeling it at all.

To many lines going in different directions for the exterior to meet the eye candy category. Like the interior except what is that diamond pattern on those seats?
On the other hand nice to see the HP bumped up and the option to select a sport driving mode.

As someone said, not bad from some angles, but that side view/C pillar thing is a hot mess. Interior has some nice features, but the half-quilted, half-smooth seating surface has me baffled.
It hurts me what they've done to the Maxima. I had an older model in the late 80s that looked great, had terrific features, ran strong (with a MT) and had adjustable damping suspension. In it's day, it could run with any sports sedan except true high end performance cars.
These days with the CVT only, I haven't paid much attention to the Maxima. Maybe this restyle will help them, but who knows. Seems even more radical than the 4G was.

Umm. No. I think the TLX is wayyyy better looking than this Maxima, as is the 4G.
The interiors nice, but its missing two of the key things that MAKE the 4G the 4G. AWD and manual shift. There IS no replacement for the AWD 300hp manual 4G currently on the market.

That thing is a monstrosity. I use to love the Maxima. This model and the one it replaces are just fugly. Lexus and Infiniti have been hit with the ugly stick. Surprisingly the TLX is the best looking of the Japanese in its class.
And I would take an Accord or Camry over this any day!

Yeah, I'd stick with a Mazda6 6MT and save a lot of money in the process.

Wayyyy too busy and it looks really tall. Almost "4x4ish". I'll take a TLX SH-AWD over this for 40K and like Maximas too.

Ignoring the SH-AWD vs FWD of the 4G TL vs the Maxima, I absolutely love the new Maxima. Very muscular and chunky, and makes a real styling statement on the road. Glad to see a revival of the large 4DSC (4-door sports car, which is how Nissan used to market the 1990's Maximas), which is one of the main attractions of the 4G TL. Since I like the Transformer-like style of the 4G, I guess it's natural that I like the Transformer style of the new Maxima.
I'm not a fan of Nissan quality nor longevity, but I do like the design of the new Maxima.

I guess I am in the minority. I like the new Maxima. Interior looks really nice and people will start to love the exterior. With heavy incentives (Nissan always have incentives for the Max), I'll take the top trim for around 35K.
But of course not the 1st year model, maybe the MMC.

I for one am happy to see the trend in more driver centric interiors (commenting specifically on the somewhat driver canted console). I'm a fan of the 4g interior, but if I had it my way the whole console would be tilted to the driver instead of a focus on symmetry.
