Low gas mileage 2013 tl
Greetings Everyone, I just bought a 2013 TL and am very excited but after changing spark plugs, air filter, oil, cleaning TPS and MAP sensor and right tire pressure am still only getting 18 miles per gallon. I had it check if there was any check engine light on for maybe an oxygen sensor that was not working properly but the scan show NO issues. Does anyone knows what else I should do to improve miles per gallon since this model should be doing 22-29 ?

What octane gas are you using?

Another tip -- if you leave the HVAC in auto, the A/C will run quite often, even in cooler weather, as it is designed not only to cool but also to remove humidity inside the car. In temperate weather, I always manually turn the A/C off.
Using the A/C in heavy city traffic is a heavy gas-gulper.
Is yours the AWD or FWD model? If AWD and if you're driving all the time in heavy stop and go traffic and don't use an especially light touch on the throttle, 18 mpg is probably about right, especially with the A/C cycling on and off all the time. 18 is pretty low if yours is an FWD car.

In addition to what JM2010 SH-AWD posted and I agree with, you should also be aware that even if you want to just want to have outside air vent into the cabin, when you turn on the HVAC it will automatically turn on the A/C compressor. So you will need to make sure you see "A/C Off" is displayed in the bottom right side of the main display so you know the compressor is off. Use the "A/C" button to manually toggle between on / off.
Since the TL is new to you, maybe you're inadvertently driving with compressor on all the time?

If I'm light and watch my driving (ie don't be a "dick") then I'll get around 22 average with about 60-65mph average speed on my MID. If I don't watch my driving I'll usually get 18. I'm on an FWD. If I'm doing a long interstate drive I'll easily get 30-32mpg doing around 70 average. Best spot for the car in my opinion is around 78-82 MPH. If I coast/cruise and keep at the speed I average around 32MPG.

I noticed during the winter months the fuel economy was horrible - after the transmission software update. It has been getting better with the warmer weather. Some people say in the Winter they use "Winter" gas which means it has additives for it not to freeze in lower temperatures. Horrible for fuel economy too.
Do the usual and check tire pressures, oil, driving habits, acceleration habits.
Another person mentioned Auto climate control which makes sense too. Don't use unless you have too. Plus its getting warmer. Open up those windows and sunroof and play loud music!
Oh yeah, try out other companies 91 octane. Shell vs Esso vs Costco vs Canadian Tire - may be different and could give you better or worse fuel economy.

Don't feel too bad, I'm at 1/2 tank right now with my 2013 FWD TL and the dash is showing an average of 13.7mpg.
Mostly gentle city driving with a little freeway thrown in. And that's using 91 octane gas from Chevron, tires are all inflated correctly, and recently serviced at Acura at 40k miles.
On anything other than a straight highway, I'm lucky to ever get 20mpg from a tank. Honda V6's are thirsty.
