Just got a QuickJack
 

just picked up a QuickJack from Costco and decided to do a little review on it. I am in no way sponsored or employed by QuickJack, I was not paid for this review.

I've had my eye on QuickJack for about a year when I saw a video on it, I saw Costco had it for 1099 and Discover had 5% cashback, so I figured why not? Let's give it a try.
I purchased my QJ from Costco.com for 1099 shipped, after taxes it comes out to about 1200. If you can find it at an actual Costco store it's 999, so you can save yourself 100 dollars. Honestly, for how heavy everything is, I think it's worth it to pay the extra 100 dollars to have it shipped to your door. Also Costco.com takes Discover so you can get 5% cashback.

The QJ came in 3 separate boxes, two boxes for each jack and one box for the pump + fittings. The boxes are HEAVY, like 80lb per jack and about 50lb for the pump box, remember to lift with your legs! I bought 3 quarts of cheap ATF (needed for the pump) from Walmart for about 3 dollars a quart, it took about an hour to get everything setup. The instructions the QJ came with are detailed, I also watched the setup video on QJ's YouTube channel a couple of times before setting it up.

As you can the version Costco sells is the BL-5000SLX. It's capable of lifting up to 5,000lb and the reach is 60". Here's the thing about the 4G TL, our pinch welds are 64" inches apart end to end.

As you can see, it will not be possible to get the pinch welds to line up properly since the standard QJ is too short. Did I try to lift it up anyway? Of course I did and it seemed to work fine, was I satisfied with this? I was not, I decided to buy the extenders so it will lift with the full pinch welds.

This is how the blocks line up with the extenders, I just wanted to mention, the blocks are movable and I should have moved the block in the first picture so show it lines up, but I didn't. Anyway, rest assured it lines up properly and will work. I did want to point out that the QJ comes with 4 large blocks and 4 small blocks. The extenders lift the QJ up about 1.5" so I used the small blocks so it would fit under my car, without the extender I can use the bigger blocks.

This is how I store my QJ when not in use.

Anyway, is it worth the money? I think it depends on your usage, how many cars you have in your household and what kind of work you do. It's much cheaper to just get a jack and jack stands obviously, but a jack and jack stands will not be able to lift your car as high. I had to remove and reinstall my j-pipe temporarily and I did it using a jack + jack stands and it sucked, probably would have been much better with the QJ. Doing an oil change with the QJ is probably overkill, but changing MTF, rear differential fluid and transfer case fluid where the car has to be level to fill accurately, the QJ would be ideal since you won't have to put your car on 4 jack stands or lower it to level it out.
I know this isn't a really in dept review of the QJ but there are plenty of YouTube videos out there that demonstrate the functionality of QJ, I just wanted to show 4G TL what to expect as far as lift goes. Thanks for reading!

Man, I'd love to have one, but can't afford the luxury. The cheap heavy duty jack from HF will have to do. Gets one end pretty high anyway, and you can use a ramp on the back wheels and lift the front ones up using a heavy jack. Jack stands are a must though!!!

Damn, that's sweet. Tons of room. It's like the next best thing to a proper lift.

I agree with you, it's hard to justify the cost if you're not working on your car that often. I gotta admit I kind of bought it on a whim since Costco had it.

The space under the car is really nice! I've always wanted to be able to use a creeper under my car but my jack could never jack the car up that high. I bought a creeper seat as well! No more sitting on cardboard boxes on the ground for me when working on brakes!

Took the plunge and got a QuickJack for myself as well - not disappointed in any way! This thing is awesome! IMO the sheer saving in time and ease of use makes this product worth every penny. Just knowing how easy it is to lift the car makes all of the average chores worth doing yourself now - and no more appointments to schedule! :toocool:

I replaced the starter on my niece's Civic and I have to say, using the QJ + a creeper makes a world of difference. Being able to roll around under the car rather than having to scoot yourself around is so helpful, I didn't get as dirty and I had plenty of space to work. On another note, replacing a starter on a 9th gen Civic is just awful, replacing a starter on a J series engine is so much easier than K series.

Nice write up! Unfortunately my local Costco doesn’t stock these but Eastwood does and they’re about one hour from me.

On a side note I went with the 5000 EXT model quickjack. This has the added length already in the lifts and accommodates pretty much everything from cars to reasonable sized SUVs.
If you add the extension cost to the base model the 5000 EXT is pretty much the same price with the added length built in. :toocool:
These are not available from COSTCO as far as I've seen.
