I just replace a tire pressure sensor as the previous was broken (one shattered inside the tire and was rattling around). I replaced the bad unit with a genuine Acura http://www.ebay.com/itm/131672858498?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (for my 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD). The tire shop claimed to have programmed the unit and i just had to drive the car for ~25 min. I was not able to get over 15 MPH for several minutes but the warning light disappeared. Eventually when I did get over 15 MPH for a few minutes, the warning light disappeared and shortly after all 4 tire pressures read 44 PSI--I thought this was strange and the tires guage at around 35 PSI. After shutting the car off, and restarting a few hours later all 4 tire pressures read "---" but the display indicates "tire pressure OK".

Anyone know what I can do to get my TPMS system to work?

TPMS doesn't reprogramming. Just mount tire drive it for a bit and it will sync. For my car, one didn't read and in a week or so there was a TPMS error in the MMI. It was covered by Acura warranty. Normally, the reading takes a bit of time to sync so just keep an eye on it when you re-start your car and start driving...

I have 2 sets of tires with rims - Summer tires + Acura rims and Winter Tires + POS rims. They both have TPMS sensors. I just put on the winter rims about 8 hours ago. Started the car left and drove around they were all --- for about 3 mins. Then they sync'd to the snow tires and whammo TPMS setup done. Ya I even had one tire at 29lbs so air pump here I come. I love the Acura no resetting anything boom its done.

Ya btw I bought the snow tires and wheels from Tirerack. Did nothing except put them on the car and car found the new sensor like magic or was it Fitzmagic

Just a quick update...

after driving for a day and 10 or starts, my TPMS sensors are now working. Not sure why mine took so long given others indicated "after 40 seconds" but they are working.

I bought the sensor on ebay for $40--in case anyone want's to know.

I saw a set of 4 TPMS on ebay for $50

Anyone have any experience with these? It says for toyota 42607-0C070 , but says it's compatible with 2009 acura TL

atomlinks: good question. I was faced with the same decision and thought it would be best to go only with genuine Acura parts. Namely because it's inside the tire and I can't replace it easily.

If it says it's for Toyota, i'd worry. But that's just me.

I was going to contact the ebay seller via email, but saw they had a phone number 313-817-1722 so I called. The guy I talked to seemed very knowledgeable about the product and confirmed that they do work with 4g Acura TL's even though they say Toyota, all 315mhz. He said there were 2 part numbers depending on the type of wheel. If it is an alloy wheel you should get 42607-0C070. Something about a 20 degree angle with the valve stem. If it is a steel wheel 42607-0C080 which is 40 degree. I asked if was any different than OE sensors, and he said these are OE sensors.. for Toyota. Was curious if anyone had any first hand experience in buying this set. For $10 more, getting a whole set instead of one sounds appealing :-D But like Kris said, they are inside the tire and can't be replaced easily and would like to know if anyone had a bad experience with them, with programming or auto learning etc.

Wow that long. Seriously every year I change out the tires and rims, it is like 1/4 of mile and they are sync'd with the car

Just an FYI 315MHz doesn't make that much of a difference. I installed new TLX wheels on my TSX (both 315MHz) would not sync. I took it to Acura and they even tried to reset them, no luck. I ended up putting the TSX sensors back in the new wheels (I tried to save the $100 mount/balance) and they worked just fine.

Sensors are car specific, not just the MHz has to be the same but the sensors have to be able to "talk" to your receiver.

That's what it seems, MHz don't seem to matter. The ebay listing only has the TL and ZDX listed as compatible, which are the same compatible models for the sensor that Kris posted. Not sure how its possible if it's a toyota part, but the seller I talked to was very convinced that they will work.

Allow me to chime in here. I bought the 42607-0C070 from ebay. They do say that its compatible but the actual OEM part is 42753-TY2-A510-M1.
I have a 2009 TL and one of the sensor failed, it could of been low battery but it triggled the TPMS error in the MID.
So far I've been driving on the 0C070 for about a week and they sometimes read. But it takes a long time to get pressure reading. It just shows --
Good thing is the TPMS error went away but its not reading pressure every 60 seconds as it should.
I did the 15mph for 40s but it did not give pressure.

I'm close to purchase 42753-TY2-A510-M1.
