You should put up a DIY. Looks GREAT! I can use one of those.

How much did u pay for it and what are you putting in there?
The cargo net looks more useful as well, probably get me one of those!

It does look good.

I'm interested in the dimensions of the drawer, mainly how deep is it? Also does it have a locking mechanism to prevent the drawer from sliding open under acceleration?

A DIY would be nice. I read through the install instructions and I thought it showed the need to have some sort of riveting tool for installation. Did you have one or is there a workaround?

Thanks for the info!

I was thinking about one of these just to keep a notebook or netbook in my car at all times. Is it deep enough to handle a notebook, in a case, etc.?

Road rage so bad in Oakland to justify keeping a baseball bat in the cargo net? LOL

In NYC it would be a sawed-off, 9mm, and a few clips.

I bet the bat is actually for baseball.

In Oakland, you leave the sawed-off, nine and extra clips under the passenger seat.

To answer all your questions,

it fits a lap top perfectly well, including a dell 17'.

yes you need a mandrel tool (rivetting tool), i just happen to have one.

there is a locking mechanism to the right, yellow in color.

and yes road rage in Oakland is not bad, but you have to be careful what off ramp to take. this is why I not only carry a bat...

by the way, it is also perfect for one of these. it weighs about 6 pounds.

I would think twice pissing you off on the interweb. I can see that shooting me thru my laptop.

I can see you coming out of your car with the baseball bat and the other guy saying "Don't bring a baseball bat to a gun fight" and you going "ORLY"

I would shizzle my izzle fo' sho if it was pointed at me

Excellent, just what I wanted to know. Nice hardware in the drawer too! Can you give the details of the gun? Looks like a shotgun, but theres a decent sized clip attached as well.

Thanks again!

Thanks. its an MP5-A4. SWAT spec , obviously non-civilian with 2 twin 30 round clips clamped.

Did I mention that it fits perfectly in the drawer! In any case, we should all keep the clips un-loaded in a separate compartment, and YES, even when rolling around Oakland.

I keep a Louisville Slugger in my cargo net... glad I'm not the only one.

Oh the drawer looks nice, I wanted to install it, but I need the height in the back for my hockey equipment. :[

Love the drawer, it's a good size... thanks for the pictures, love the metal rig...
too bad it won't fit my barrett .50 cal

Now that I see your picture of the drawer closed, I thought it could be a good idea to stick a 2-color reflective tape along the edge, that way when you open your trunk it will serve as an emergency triangle to alert drivers you are changing a tire or something... similar to the Audi's triangle mounted under the lid (my next project)

Is the drawer easy to remove in case we need the space for a trip ?

I added one in our TL also. It's a fantastic little cheap option. Place to keep little things you don't want rolling around in the trunk as you drive. Better solution than the net for things that will be staying around on a regular basis

This gun in the tunk reminds me of something from the Hagakure:

In China there was once a man who liked pictures of dragons, and his clothing and furnishings were all designed
accordingly. His deep affection for dragons was brought to the attention of the dragon god, and one day a real dragon
appeared before his window. It is said that he died of fright. He was probably a man who always spoke big words but
acted differently when facing the real thing.

I'd take better shot placement myself, especially with the price of bullets being so high.

Are you able to fit luggae and suitcases in your trunk still? The trunks are small to begin with. Does the make even LESS room?
Also Its good to see a FELLOW OAKLANDER here.
