I voted for the Bi-Xenon headlights, from that list. My list would include better rims! For a $40K car, better rims and wheels would make the car stand up against the German cars, but for now, they say Honda, at least on the FWD. The 5 spoke alloy's on the AWD are acceptable for me, I just wish I had them.

I think that the TL's one glaring weakness is the lack of, at least, a six-speed transmission. I would have really loved a seven-speed...

We should also add Heads-Up Display and better cotrols for ipod playback! It's becoming pretty anoying to scroll through all the artists, especially when you have a 120gb ipod almost full.

Power tilt and telescope, completely inexcusable for the TL to not have it.

Wow, I didn't know the 4th Gen TL doesn't have Bi-Xenons. The 3rd Gen came standard with them...

The SH-AWD sadly needs a 6th speed badly! But after that I woudl like these features in this order:

- Fix the damn bluetooth!!
- blind spot warning (mising form your vote list)
- ventilated seats
- adaptive cruise control
- electic telescoping wheel

100% agree I said this a while back however it does have other goodies that cars in this price range don't offer, how often do you move your steering wheel anyways. The Bi-Xenon I was puzzled when I realized my 04 had them and they were not offered for the 09 the dealer gave me a cheap excuse about the DRL, then when I challenged him that the 07 and 08 TL's had bi-xenon he said o well the lows are bright enough, yeh but putting on the highs suck it cheapens the feel of the car and it is now a commkon trend in all Acura vehicles just low beam xenon a better excuse would be so not to blind other drivers or goverment regualted at least make it sound believable

Has anyone had experience with blindside systems? Sounds good but not sure if I'd completely trust it to NOT look before I change lanes. I think the panoramic camera is more compelling of a feature in the Infiniti and the JDM Honda van.

So, no so sure if the blindside systems are truly worthy but maybe nice as a add-on feature much like the back up sensors are now.

I think I'd have to go with the ventilated seats, sounds like an awesome concept and I seen the Lexus at the NY auto show a few years back that had it, think it was the LS. Otherwise, style and performance wise, and even feature (minus some ipod stupidities/ bluetooth performance) are superb

I've driven several audi's with this system. it's very useless. there are too many factors to determine if it will or will not alert you to someone in your blind spot. speed differential, actual position, etc.

and fwiw, even though audi offers it, it's very rare........... which tells me if acura were to offer it, the majority of buyers won't not get it if it were optional. thus probably why they don't bother with it.

My wifes Mazda CX9 has them. Of all of the new "smart" electronics, it's the only one that I actually like. It only "beeps" if you turn your signal on and there IS a car next to you. Nobody should rely soley on this feature, but it actually does work. And there are never any false alarms.

The revised MDX and the new ZDX will both have the around view camera

I voted for the 6 Speed auto, because I think the other options are either gimmicks, or not that useful/important. For example, rain sensing wipers. How lazy are you that you can't turn the wipers on yourself? I really would have liked a power tilt/telescope steering wheel, but then I thought, once you set the position, you're going to keep it there anyway. Unless you have multiple people driving your car, the steering wheel will stay in the position you leave it in. Adaptive cruise control? If you need your car to automatically slow down for you, you have no business driving. Bi-xenon headlights? I didn't even know that our headlights weren't Bi-xenon. They look the same as my old 3G TL, which had Bi-xenon so I don't see the big deal. Now I can see how folks in the south would want ventilated seats, but do they really work? I have never had an issue with my ass being sweaty, and we've all had cars in the past that didn't have this feature, so it shouldn't be an issue either. Getting a tint that has good UV protection, and the regular a/c will work better than ventilated seats anyway. Bottom line is, all these features would've been great if they were included. Unfortunately, sacrifices have to be made to keep the price in check, and these features will be added throughout the generation anyway.

" example, rain sensing wipers. How lazy are you that you can't turn the wipers on yourself? "

- had em in an 05 MDX - didn't turn on automatically - but once you activated them - they vary their speed w/ the intensity of the rain - actually worked pretty good.

90% of the time I use the low beams, but I agree at high beam my 3G's bi xenon threw more light

Something to add to the list - engine stop at long lights? city mpg might improve

In order, and yes the electric tilt/telescoping steering wheel should be simply standard on a $40k car.
  1. A 6th or 7th speed auto
  2. Bi-xenon headlights
  3. Ventilated and/or A/C seats
  4. Rain sensing wipers
  5. Adaptive cruise control

from your list, i would say the most significant choice imho would be a 6 speed auto.

I'd say that leather seats should be standard on a $40k car too, but BMW and Mercedes disagree.

why? even the tier one audi brand doesn't have that standard on the A4, A5, or A6, which, except for the low line A4, cost notably more......

nor on the A4 or A6 are hid headlights standard, let alone bixenons........\
or bluetooth for that matter.......

thus were the acura does deliver value, even if you can't get everything you dream of............

6 speed, RWD and 19" rims should have all been standard.
A supercharger and SMG should be standard on a future Type-S.

I think there is exception to the bi-xenon because they will probably offer the active front lighting system at MMC as well as all the other features above. I may be wrong but I don't think you can combine high beam into the active lighting function of an active system due to blind siding, or maybe Acura just doesn't want the liability.

I'm almost positive that Acura will put that 6sp auto into the TL since both the ZDX and the MDX will have 6sp autos once their 2010 models roll out.

While I agree with you, I think the power in the TL is plentyful and more than enough for most ppl (which, of course, we are not part...)

Let's face it, we are a minority of users here who care more about HP and 0-60 times than confort and luxury. And while the TL is now more an intermediate-size sedan, it'll be hard to have a type S that isn't significantly more expensive than the TL Tech/SHAWD. Just look at the TSX and what you get for 5 500 $USD...

I went for the 6 speed auto. I think the other options are nice but far from being a «core issue» as the tranny is.

save gas???

I don't get why they say that shutting off the engine saves gas. I mean...how much gas could your car possibly use at idle? It uses so little gas that it's insignificant. Plus, how is your A/C going to operate without the engine running?

And I would like rain sensing wipers. I'm tired of adjusting the interval switch. I drove a Lexus LS430 once and when it rained, the wipers turned on automatically. I was like, cool!

well, on your list, I'd pick the 6/7-speed transmission, and quite frankly, don't really care about most of the other ones.

If you had Blind Spot Monitoring system, I'd choose that... I've driven several cars with it (including Mazda6 -- if that car has it, why not the TL?), and it DOES work, but yes, you can't use it exclusively and turn off your driving senses (same way you can't rely solely on the rear-view camera in reverse).

You didn't make the option to scrape the ugly off available?!

But seriously, rain sensing wipers are really nice to have if you live in the Seattle area.

..because at idle you're getting 0 MPG when you're not in motion...nada, zip! Add all the time up that your car idles and it's a signifigant amount of fuel wasted.

I'd take the AC seats...tried them in the CTS...they are a fantastic feature!

Turning the engine off and on at every light would cause a ridiculous amount of wear and tear.

A better idea might be to turn off half of the cylinders at highway speeds (I believe a version of the Accord already does this).

Nah...a lot hybrids typically go through many stop/start cycles when at low speeds as the gas motor shuts down and the electric motor(s) take over. Proportionally, more fuel is burnt while idling. Cold starts are what cause the wear...because the oil is in the pan. Restarting the engine after a few seconds/minutes isn't nearly as damaging as there's still a film of oil over internals for protection...it hasn't had time to drain fully back into the pan.

However, stopping/starting at lights would be a PITA and potentially dangerous if not timed properly. Ask any "Hyper-Miler"...
