The flat black and the gloss black is a nice color combination, however with the essential classyness of the 4g TL, it begs for anything but "flat colors." I think adding flat black to a 4G would degrade(cheapen) it just a bit, howevever this is just my opinion, I only have been Modding for 5 years now (not forever), so that is just my 02.

As for extra work, it is not extra work, it is just extra money. That flat black requires a flat clear. You wouldn't be able to just spray basecoat and leave it because it would have no protection. It would require a clear that dries flat, this allowing proection. So no extra work, just extra $ since typical body shops do not stock this type of clear, however I could be wrong, they may stock it for certain situations.
I never thought of it that way and now that you say it I kind of agree with you about the flat black. It's just an idea I had to do something a little different and try to keep those trim pieces from just blending in and washing away from a visual stand point. However, I would like to have them painted and I think you just made up my mind when you say it would be more dollars out of pocket. I think the TL looks sweet when the grille and rear trim are painted to match. Can't wait to get it done. I think I'm gonna follow you're lead and buy an extra grill, who knows maybe I'll just send it you're way if you're up for some extra work and $$...

Not my cup of tea, but thanks for sharing!! I like more devine seperation of the headlights, thus not blending them into the hood and bumper.
