HL22-1200 Lumen V-LEDS
I just got off the phone with a V-LEDS rep and they said that it provides enough light output to bring back high beam functionality. I currently have 28 LED bulb in my high beam/DRL and knew going in that it was for esthetics only. It would be nice to get high beams back because I drive through some rural areas between home and work. Anybody try these yet?

it may seem like it looks brighter in the pics.. but i can bet money that i will not even come close to becoming as bright as halogens.. you can try it first and let us know tho.

The only way to test auto headlight output is by comparing the lumens.
As always, if LED headlight vendors won't release the lumen #'s, most likely because their LED bulbs can never be as bright as the good old halogen ones.

I went ahead and ordered these lights and will be the guinea pig. The specs on their site say it outputs 1200 lumen per bulb and the sales rep assured me that light was adequate to run in low-beam halogen housing. Since I will have these in my high-beam housing I'm hoping they will do the job when needed. If not, I'm out 15% restocking fee for returns. I'll post comparison pictures early next week when the bulbs arrive.

I'm interested in the outcome as well, thanks Camphil for being the guineau pig. I noticed these bulbs on the VLED site the other day, but at $100 a set, these are above what I'd comfortably pay. Besides, I waited a while to get the 6 CREE bulb from them and am pretty satisfied with the color and output.
Came across this article that talks about lumens. http://reviews.ebay.com/quot-Xenon-q...:-1:LISTINGS:6
If these bulbs are 1200 lumens, then they would be brighter than standard 9006/9005 halogens which fall between 1000-1100 lumens according to the site.
Looking forward to the results.

I was considering the updated versions of those (10 led). Do you have output pictures at night? I assume you have them in your DRL/High-Beam.

Are these the ones you have?

Yeah, those are the ones that I have. Just noticed today the new 10 LED ones that you are talking about. The 6 LED ones produce 725 lumens according to their site, and the 10 LED ones produce 850 lumens. And both seem to be the same $59.99 price. I would go with the 10 LED version for $59.99.
I only have this pic taken around sunset, in the shadows without high beam on, just DRL. I can try taking some additional pictures this weekend at night if that will help.

22W LED - 1200 Lumen (Installed)
Am I happy with the output...absolutely! Was it worth the money? They bring back high beam but not sure how much and I'll need to do more comparisons between standard halogen bulbs. However they are A LOT brighter compared to the 28 led bulbs I had installed previously. I tried to test them last night, but it was snowing and obviously high beams in those conditions prove useless. I'll try to do some more test runs later tonight or tomorrow once the snow lets up.
Here are some sample pictures and note that I turned the exposure on my camera phone down to -2. You can also notice a slight blue tinge outline. It gives a nice effect to it from different angles. Enjoy!

Very interesting camphil. Thanks for being the "guinea pig" on these for the rest of us.
What temp are your lowbeams? Stock? 6000k?
Also, could you post a few shots of just the DRLs on from the front of the car? I want to see what they look like in the housing. Please post shots of the DRLs in the daytime and nighttime please and thanks.
Judging by the lowbeam w highbeam pic (last one)... it doesn't look like it would throw as much light out as a hologen bulb. But anything over regular LED bulbs is definitely an improvement... hopefully a functional improvement.

everyone should be aware that camphil removed his high beam reflector front shield piece.. if this bulb is too long it may not fit for headlights that still have that piece on..

I'll do a comparison shot of the standard halogens next to this bulb so everybody can get a better sense and if they will fit with the shield still in place.

To the naked eye, It seems like they output close to stock. At the very lease it provides some functionality back to my high beams. I don't have access to a light meter so can't give you an exact number on the lumen.

CamPhil, are these bulbs plug N play?

Yes they are, but keep in mind that you'll also need resisters to trick the car so you don't get error message about your DRL. I've never had any issues with the ones from ijdmtoy (R2 option).

I wish it were 2 sided as well. The current design does not make the most of the reflector housing. V-LEDS rep told me they were working on an updated version (at least 6 months out) but didn't give me specifics on the design. Perhaps the next set will have LEDs on 2 sides.

In for pictures of the samples too. I have a window to return my current setup and if the ones from JLC are brighter I wouldn't mind being the first to try.
Day shots below. I did my best to adjust exposure so you get a better sense of what I see in person. I'll try to get night shots tonight.

Am I looking at the right ones here? http://www.jlclightings.com/9005-24W...ma-p/dp24w.htm
I wonder how much more light they throw VS the ones I have from V-LEDS.
