Decision Time

Getting my front bumper fixed from minor accident. The body shop calls me and asks me if I would be interested in painting the rear lip WDP to match White Diamond Pearl color of my car. He tells me he has to take rear bumper off but will only chrage me 100 bucks as he already has paint for the front bumper.

Is it just me or does the silver lip cause the back of the car to look like an alien smiling at you? So what do you think ?Paint the lip white or leave as is?

Yes and have him do the grill as well. Color matching the grill works really well on WDP.

I may be in the minority but I think that WDP looks great with the OEM grill and rear trim. Personally, I would leave them alone.

I know that lots of people said that the front and back of the car look like they are smiling at you. It's true, and those trim pieces certainly contribute to that. IMHO, there is nothing wrong with a car or anything smiling at anyone.

I have not seen a 4G TL WDP with a color matched rear lip. I think you would be the first. Go for it.

Before purchasing my TL about a month ago, I was set on painting the front grille and the lip, but now after having the car and seeing it in person all the time, I think it looks fine stock. I may change my mind later and do it, why? I doubt the rear lip is that much to replace if you don't like it and I think the front will look good either way. I would not however paint the whole grill, just the center part.

I think it would look good if you paint it. If you do that you may want to pail the whole front grill and not just the beak.

Also, there are several pics of WDP TL's with a painted lip and front grille. Some the whole grille painted, some just the beak. I like the ones with just the beak painted and based on pictures, not in person, I do not like the look of the rear lip painted to match.

Here is the link to that thread

Thanks for all the input. I gave the body shop the green light to paint the lip WDP. I am lovin the RONJON grill (http://ronjonwheels.com/ronjonimages...-grille/48.jpg) and may opt for that instead of painting the front grill. Will be getting my car back on Tuesday. Will post pics to let everyone see the results!! Got chrome rear license plates as well...
