Considering 4th gen SH 6MT - if I could find one

I wrecked my '05 TL last month (https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/anyone-buy-2005-within-last-6-months-897975/)

I was/am considering a G37 or G37x, around the 2010/11 mark.

I drove a 2013 SH 6AT and personally like the drive of the g37 better, that 7AT with ultra low 1st and second really makes it feel pretty quick, TL feels much more than just a couple of tenths slower like they are on paper.

That being said, the TL is nicer inside IMO. Also a more luxury/refined feel than the G37 IMO.

I really want to drive am SH 6MT to see how I like it... If I could find one! They are so rare! Anyone live within a few hundred miles of OKC want to let me drove theirs? (halfway joking since, yes, I did just get in an accident, but it was first in about 18 years, first ever where I hit someone!)

I want to drive one before buying one and having it checked out by an independent mechanic and having it shipped... Or before driving 10 hours to find one (or flying).

I've been on the board for quite a while, I thought there was a "for sale" area, is there not???

You could drive down to the Dallas area and test drive this silver 2012 6MT for sale on Autotrader:

I also compared the G37 to the TL and I thought the Tl was a significantly nicer car. The G37 just barely edged it out in the 'fun to drive' category, but I think the TL destroys it everywhere else.

mp3 - check the "black market" section here on Acurazine for cars for sale.
I highly recommend a 6M/T TL - if you have some time to find one. Lots of fun paired with the SH-AWD drivetrain!

mp3car,

I have been driving my 2012 6MT for the last 3 months, and I love it! Previously I drove a 2009 SH-AWD 5AT for a year before that. I had the judder/torque converter issue some of the other members here have had, and it was driving me nuts. I took the 5AT to the dealer to get the software updated as well as a tranny flush, but it did not make any significant improvements to the shifting. As much as I loved the rest of my 2009 TL, the automatic tranny made me loathe getting into the car each day for my drive to work.

So, I shopped around for a 6MT. The closest one to me in the color I wanted and in my price range was 1,800 miles away. I didn't fly out there to test drive it, I had to go through 2 rounds of FedEx paperwork back and forth between me and the used car lot, and I had to arrange my own transportation with a trucking company to get it delivered to me. Was it worth it? You betcha, and I would do it again! The driving experience with a manual is much better than the sport mode on the automatic. Sometimes it is a pain to drive the manual in traffic, but I rather deal with that then the lack of throttle response in my automatic due to my TC issue.

Hopefully you get a chance to drive that 6MT in Dallas so you can experience in the differences in the TL transmissions like I did.

Okay, thanks for the feedback! If they still have it by Saturday, I'll head on down to drive it...

I do like the G37x, really liked te 7AT as far as ATs go... But after having our 3rd MDX for a week (a 2010, still have an '05, owned an '02 before that), I really am liking the TL more than the G as far as comfort goes. G37 suspension might be sportier, but it's also rougher and I think more road noise.

The timing with the MDX worked out nicely so we aren't stuck with one car. We've bought all the MDXs from my dad, now he's getting a 2014 most likely... The good part is, I'm. It in that big of a rush, and a 2012 TL (like the mid-gen refresh that the 2012 saw) is going to likely drop in value quicker than the 2005 MDX, which I'll be selling once I find a car to replace the TL....

I don't own a TL, yet. Like you, I want a manual but they are near-impossible to find. I've found one within a 14 hour drive of me, and it's a color I hate (silver). I'm gonna give it another week and then just suck it up and get an auto, time is not on my side unfortunately.

I have a silver 2010 TL SH-AWD 6MT with 15,000 miles in fantastic shape. I live in DFW area and would consider selling it for the right price.
