Cheapest place to buy timing belt/water pump kits

Hi everybody, I have an 2009 SH-AWD advance. It's about that time to change the timing belt and water pump. Does anybody have any recommendations on where to get kits for the cheapest price. I want OEM only parts. I've checked eBay and they have some kits. The one I'm leaning toward is this kits. Has anybody found anything for cheaper? Thanks in advance.

288 shipped

I think this is that same kit?

Amazon Amazon

Amazon usually beats eBay for car parts, unless I'm looking for something used.

I have always found rockauto to be the best in selection and consistency.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...nent+kit,16088

Google for a 5% off code, they always have one.

Search Aisin TKH-002.

You can find the kit for under $200 shipped & it's all OEM.

The only problem with the Aisin kit, as good as it is, it doesn't come with serpentine belt, serpentine belt tensioner, new front cam seals, and a new front crank shaft seals. Add new OEM parts for those items to the price of the Aisin kit and the overall price is pretty much a push.

So what kit do you suggest?

That's true but those items aren't part of the timing belt service.

Understood. The thing is, under the assumption my engine isn't unique, front cam seals leak and it may be a good idea to replace them every timing belt change, or at least every other timing belt change. Per the service records on my car, the original owner didn't have the cam seals replaced when the timing belt was done, and now at 133,000 miles, at least one of the cam seals is now leaking. For the moment, the leak(s) aren't much more than some seepage, but if it gets bad enough, I'll be doing another timing belt service long before I hit the 210,000 mile mark.

So, for ~$260 plus shipping (prices from Rock Auto except for the oil seals) you can get the full kit plus a new serpentine belt tensioner:
  • Gates Serpentine Belt Kit: $61.79
  • Honda oil seals (3): $18.75
  • Aisin Timing Belt and Water Pump kit: $179.79

Or, just I'll just pony the up the extra $28 and buy the full Honda and then another ~$50 for a new serpentine belt tensioner.

Do you think the kit i found on ebay is a good price for 288 and does it come with all the parts you recommend changing at the 105k service?

Hmmm, I don't think so, to me that looks like the timing belt tensioner. Same idea and function, different part.

That's definitely not a timing belt tensioner. Having done the work myself, I think that there's no need to replace the serpentine belt tensioner with this service. Buy the Aisin kit, a new serpentine belt and call it a day. Nothing else is worth replacing as it's all easy enough to get to or not a common failure point.

Regardless, replacing the Serpentine Belt tensioner with the belt every 105,000 miles is a prudent move; it is certainly optional, but having the belt come off in the middle if a rainstorm is way more inconvenient than spending the extra $50 and replacing the freakin' thing while the belt is off.

I agree the serpentine belt tensioner does not need to be changed unless it needs to.

If I had a dime for every serpentine belt tensioner which decided "it needs to" be changed at a very inopportune moment possible, I'd be a rich man. I am not a fan or advocate of throwing parts at problems, however, I am also very much an advocate of preventative maintenance.

I have had more alternators go so you might as well change that while you have the belt off never had a tensioner go ever.My last Acura a 2001 CLS 300,000 Kilometers never changed anything but one coil pack never changed the timing belt either

So you got lucky; are you suggesting everybody else follows your lead?

You want all of that included for the low low price of $180 shipped.....and OE quality? I think it's a fine kit. The seals you mentioned are good to have on hand if you observe a leak and even better if you can return them if when there isn't a leak. If that was kitted, returning them wouldn't be an option.

Worth mentioning is that the idler pulley bolt (for the timing belt) should be replaced. It comes from Honda with threadlock on it, as well as a few bolts for the side engine mount that should be removed.
