I Just installed a Denso Cabin Filter in my 2013 Acura TL this morning. What I noticed is the Denso has the arrow pointing up for air flow like the Purolator filter I replaced it with. Since the factory cabin filter has the arrow pointing down I always installed it with aftermarket ones pointing with the arrow pointing in that direction. Is this the right way?

I just replaced mine with a denso as well. I get better flow than with some of the aftermarket ones. And since it's summer, I want the most AC flow possible.
I'm not sure how critical the direction of the filter is. However, the flow is down. If you want to confirm, remove the filter then place your hand in the back of the glove compartment and you'll definitely feel the flow downward. Just don't put your hand down too far since the fan is directly below where the filter sits.
you need to make sure the arrow is point down, since the airflow brings in air from the cowl/windshield area down into the air exchange chambers. The material on the cabin air filters is different on each side, and you want to make sure the "fuzzier" side is hitting the dirty airflow, since it will get more of the contaminants that way. The airflow arrow ensures that this will be true, and pointing down is what you want. I know this since I just replaced the cabin air filter on my '17 MDX yesterday and am doing the wife's TL today - both have the same airflow direction....
Thanks guys! I guess I’ve been installing it correct all this time. The Denso filter isn’t as thick as the Purolator so hopefully I’ll have better airflow this Summer. I’m glad that the filter is really easy to change on these models compared to my girlfriends 2008 Maxima which you have to take out the glove department to get access to the air filter.
went to go pull out what I thought was the stock cabin filter for my brothers truck.....
it just wasnt there.
couldnt remember if I never completed the install or if Nissan sent it out without the filter....
Ohwell, put new one in there upside down.
context: '15 Nissan Frontier. I could have taken out the filter in the last 4 years or so, in thinking that I was going to replace it? and just forgot??????? who knows. my bro smokes so it doesnt matter anyway...filter probably already clogged
lol I remember my 1997 Nissan Maxima had no cabin filter. Whenever you would turn on the air for heat a bunch of dust and dirt would fly at you from the vents. I’m thankful at this day and age that we have these cabin filters so that doesn’t happen when the car gets to be 21 years old.
