Body Kit Question
Hello everyone,
im fairly new to the forum and i have a question for everyone and anyone. if i have an 09 SH-AWD, do you think i can install only the rear oem body kit? i dont see much difference in the side skirts and the front may become a future mod. basically, if i only buy the rear underbody kit, will it look funny from a side view? is the rear body kit lower than the stock side skirts? for those of you who have installed the kit, maybe im in luck and you installed the rear and took a break to admire your work lol. thanks to everyone, and who knows, maybe it will help someone in the future. thanks for looking, have a good one

Just make sure you buy the right year. I just did the front + sides for my 13 with the rear mud guards. I have the rear part of the kit but am holding off on using it. Also, I think it does look different enough. My wife said the same thing to me until she saw it on.

^^ I have the same thing (except I never bought the rear piece so they are not home).
OP....I encourage you to get the whole kit as much as possible otherwise you will regret it. I was able to pull it off on the 2012 because of the rear splash guard sort of finishing the back. If the rear piece would have looked nicer on the 2102 (its ok on a dark color), I would have gotten the whole kit...its not a money issue for me, it was the esthetic aspect that made me decide the way I did)

If they rectify it, I may look to buy a separate rear.
Stew - thanks for being the guinea pig. It was the pics in this forum which convinced me to do the mud flap combo. I don't really even like it on the dark car either - mine is black.
Rolex - I think the rear part on your model year looks good, so I'd go for it and the rest of the kit if it were me.

I've heard of others wanting just the front portion, or front and sides...but never anyone who wanted just the rear. I have a strong feeling that would look fugly. I suggest you save your money or even do it piecemeal but in the order of front / sides / rear.

Thanks for all your replies, for me I like the rear because I have the ATLP quads and so I feel like the kit complements it really well but after reading this, it seems like I'm just gonna save up and buy the whole thing when I can afford it but I appreciate it guys

Is there anyway I could make a 2009 rear underbody spoiler fit my 2013 acura tl without to much fabrication or would I have to completely change out my bumper? I know it's a noobie question but I"ve been trying to find a answer...

Hey, so as far as the kits, the 2013 TL does have a completely different bumper and on the 09 there is a part that is cut off aand a few holes are drilled in the bumper so that it will stay put. I'm not too familiar with the 13 however if the holes matched up it would work perfectly fine but maybe the Acura Dealer has a part you can look at or you can find pics of the inside of the 09 rear bumper and compare it to yours. As far as the exhaust fitting, it will fit perfectly as it is the same exhaust and only the tips on the SH were discontinued. It is also the same shape bumper however the license plate us moved up if I remember correctly so it may not look to good because it wouldn't look as flush. Is there any reason you don't want the 13 body kit?

I just like the rear underbody spoiler better from the 2009-2011 body in comparison to the new one. But by the sounds and looks of things i'm just going to stick with the 2013 version.

I almost did the front lip only. Man, I'm glad I was convinced to do the whole kit instead. I can't imagine owning this car without the full kit. I work at an Acura dealer and people ask about my car all the time because the spoiler kit makes the car stand out not to mention it looks mean...

To the Will the 09 fit the 12-13 yes if you buy the bumper to go with it... otherwise no it will not.. the tag is in a different place which screws the fitment all up... as to the can I just go with the rear no I wouldn't the sides do fall lower to match the rear... Matts_Acura has some pics near the beginning of his build thread in the photography area of his missing the sides. The rear is the best portion of the kit for the 09-11 but it will look odd alone...

Thank you, what I ended up doing is I left the splash guards, lowered it, put rims and an exhaust system and I can say Im pretty happy with the its looks. The offset of the rims make the whole car look really mean and angry. Always a plus in the car world lol

SiCk_TyPe_S, the MMC 4G lip kit looks better in person than in pics. I get compliments all the time, even from girls who know nothing about cars lol.

The front splash guards simply sit way too low even on a stock car.
My car has not been lowered, and before the aero kit was installed, the front guards kept scrapping when going through some raised mall entrances.

I still may try my plan however, just to get a solid answer. A technician here had a '10 model and was 100% sure that the rear kit wouldn't line up with a '12, even with the earlier bumper in place...so yeah, I may still just have to see for myself...I have the means so why not...but thanks again
