There is no such a thing as "the best engine oil for a 2009 Acura TL", errr, unless you're religious, then it is whichever oil you worship.

Long story short, literally any 0W-20 will do a good job of lubricating your engine, as will most 5W-20s.

As horseshoez said, it's all pretty much personal preference. You could run regular dino oil and you'll be ok as long as you follow the MID.

I personally use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 + Royal Purple 10-2080 oil filter.

I'm glad you brought this up. It's never really been discussed before.

When it comes to oil, what's 90% important is that you change it on time. The other 10% is what oil and filter you choose. Heck, use the $11 Walmart Supertech special and it will be just fine.

I personally use Mobil 1 Extended Performance with the Mobil 1 Extended Performance M1-104 filter. I consider it money well spent considering the oil and filter is about $20 more per change than the Walmart oil and basic Fram filter. Two oil changes per year or so = $40 more per year. Small cost for theoretically better engine protection.

I use jet engine oil, last longer and increases the VTAK power output to 33 decibels.

I use Royal purple oil and filter. I change the oil once a year. My 09 runs and sounds like the day I bought it. I am very confident the car is being lubed and protected properly.

I use Castrol Edge 0W-20. So?

So what that leaves us with is the following vote totals:
  • QTY - Brand/Product
  • 001 - Castrol Edge
  • 001 - Mobil 1
  • 001 - Pennzoil Platinum
  • 001 - Royal Purple
Depending upon whom you listen to, we all have it correct or we all haven't a clue and are using the wrong oil.

Long story short, the price if tea in China will not be affected by the oil you put in your engine.
