Applying Door Edge Film

The installation instruction mentioned about using the "3M Protective tape application solution" before you apply the film.

Has anyone done the installation without applying 3M solution? I believe they are in the purpose of cleaning the surface which alcohol pad that comes with the kit may do the work especially on the brand new paint...

Thanks!

You might be thinking about the door edge guards, which are plastic and in a sense does clamp on to the door edge. I think the OP is talking about door edge film which is basically the same stuff as the clear bra.

I have door edge film installed by the dealer, who uses an independent contractor to do the install. He did not use any solution. But he did use a heat gun to help melt it on the door. After two months, the film has held up very well and I wash my car every week. No peeling.
