Anybody have Crow's Feet (clear coat fracturing) on their paint?
I've discovered this after I compounded and polished my car maybe 8-9 months ago. Little cracks all over my car's clear coat that I can no way in hell get out. Looking online, it's called crow's feet. Some places it's worse than others. From a distance you can't tell but closer up it's definitely noticeable and an eye sore. This is on my 2011 TL with CBP. Does anybody else have this and does anyone know if there's anything dealers can do since it's an OEM paint defect? Here's a pic I took back in October.

also, you'd be sadly mistaken if you think the dealer will take care of an 8 year old car under warranty.

It seems to be pretty common with Hondas and Acuras dark paint colors, especially black. But 8 years would be too long for them to warranty anything lol. Dealer might offer to re-paint at discount but it would be still expensive than a body shop (which they would sub-contract anyway).

As I figured haha. After seeing this was a huge issue with 4G CBP TLs, I thought I'd at least make a post here. I'll just have to tell everyone to admire my beauty from a few feet away lol. At least wax covers some of it up.
Mine's graphite luster metallic and I haven't noticed it. I haven't looked that up close though. I've waxed about every three months since I've owned the car (2 years).
Although I did end up getting some minor hail damage yesterday during a hail storm here in SLC. Some small dents on the hood and about 10 on the trunk lid. Pretty minor so I'm hoping the natural heating/cooling from the summer sun will pop them out. If not, I'll try the dry ice method or just leave them alone. You have to look at an angle to even see them. Still kind of annoying though.
Yeah, I've experienced paint failure on my passenger door and rear bumper. Got the car used and the paint was in really good condition. After about a year of ownership, clear coat start to bubble in certain areas of the car. Mainly, the passenger door that looked like it was a big blister. I've temporarily fixed it by wet sanding and spraying clear to slow the cavitation. After I pay it off, I will re-paint the entire car. Mayan Bronze Metallic ftw.

Paintless Dent Removal is the best way to get them out. Find a guy who does this for a living that does side-jobs on a weekend and you should be able to get them out relatively cheaply. Don't count on the summer heating to get them out - hail dents are too small to flex back like that..... Good luck.
I have spider cracks all over my front bumper and I have BWP as my paint color. Never seen any of that on my car but there’s plenty of other defects in the paint. Acura/Honda paint is very thin and chips easily.

I had my TL for a month. One month. A hailstorm hit and did $4k in damage. *wince*
Wow. That's well into insurance claim territory. We don't get hail like that here in Utah. The hail we had on Monday was barely 1/4" in diameter if I had to guess, and it was the worst I've seen. Still, it was enough to put a few very small dents in several cars. When I called up the guy he said he was inundated with calls but that most weren't insurance claims since there weren't a lot of dents on most cars and they were relatively small like mine.
Maybe it's just me, but I swear that some of them have smoothed out a bit. But it's not like I've kept track of them. The vast majority are on the trunk (literally none on the roof and maybe a couple on the hood that weren't already there). I think I'm just going to let it ride for now. I'm more worried about function vs. form on this car. It's got 155K and my goal is to push it to at least 300K. Not that I want it looking like crap though - I've waxed it with Meguires Carnuba Wax 5 times over the last year and wash it (by hand) a couple times a week. But that's more to do with longevity of the clearcoat and rust prevention than keeping it shiny new. Besides, I can get the paintless dent repair done anytime.
I have an 09 SH with CBP paint and I have an appoint with the dealer on the 27th to get the whole car repainted they are covering half the cost. I have the same crows feet through the paint no harm in contacting your Acura dealer. I have 62,000 miles on the car. I hope that helps

How much will the job cost altogether? Mine has 68.5k miles on it right now.
they are charging me $3000 I've talked to a bunch of body shops in my area and they all want $6000 to $7000 for a full repaint so i went with the dealer while its there I'm having them paint my front grill and back plastic trim for extra.
^^ Wow 6-7K for a full repaint job? That's too expensive. Here in Houston, you can get a high quality paint job for $3K or under. I guess there are lot of competitions here.

Yeah I wish it was that inexpensive where I live. If I took it to Macco i could probably get it for cheaper but the dealership wants to use their body shop and if I get a detailed breakdown of what they are doing I'm good with it.
