Any of you automatic owners regret getting the auto?
I'm trying to find a 2010+ TL AWD 6MT, but needless to say, they do not exist. I went and test drove an automatic, which there are an abundance of, and I really, really like the car. Beautifully refined, drove great, great tech, etc. I just donno if I'll get bored of it quickly because I'm used to the manual and I enjoy that aspect of driving. Any of you guys go from a manual to an auto and not regret it? I live in a congested city so perhaps it's time to get rid of the manual...

2010 TL AWD 6MT: New King
Yes. I had an Integra 5sdp manual. Awesome car, only reason I sold it b/c it was getting old. I regret trading it in and should have kept it as a fun car to mod.
I then bought a 2005 TSX automatic, thinking that I needed a break from driving so much. Great car I sorely miss, but I regret getting the manual.
I have a TL 6MT now. NO regrets at all. OP, keep looking for the car you want, otherwise you'll regret it later.

Given the choice of either auto or manual, I have no regret getting the auto.
My only regret is the fact that it takes too bloody long for Acura to release a Dual-Clutch (DCT) auto tranny.

Think the TL is suited to an auto so it should be fine. Have driven MT's for over 50 years still have two but one is in a truck & the other in a smaller nimbler car.

The main reason I bought this car was the 6MT...well that and the fact I could afford it. I searched high and low for the one I wanted then had it shipped over 2k miles sight unseen. I put in the extra effort and money and couldn't be happier.
Keep looking! If you see a nice CPO on the other side of the country talk to the dealer about splitting the shipping, or fly out and drive it back.
6MT + SH-AWD.....

I would have preferred the MT but when I bought my car last March I didn't want black and even though I drive it 95% of the time neither my wife or daughter wanted to deal with a MT. So I got the AT. I do spend most of the time in manual S mode and shift manually. I always like being in the gear I want rather than waiting for the trans to downshift. I too wish Acura would come out with a true dual-clutch AT. The current 6 speed AT shifts pretty quick, but no where near as quick as a dual-clutch would.
What I miss is being able to hold a clutch in for coasting... There is no equivalent with the AT. However, when you coast in an AT, you are using zero gas. Coasting with the clutch in uses some gas. Small consolation, but I'll take it.

I had the same issue. Getting a good deal on the 2013's, inventory was low. There were a couple manuals available but states away. I just figured it wasn't meant to be and time for an automatic after 20+ years of driving manual. Let's just say I miss it. Can't get into the paddle shifters. Bored quick but they're there if I feel like using them. Manual was all I knew. I still love this car either way. Honestly, and I do appreciate the automatic in traffic. Not many cars I was looking at made MT anymore in AWD
My other half has a manual BMW I'll just have to drive when I want the memories lol

I regreted getting a MT TSX. I missed the feeling of the MT and the control it offered over my vehicle. ATs can suck it IMO. Others may find us for it in traffic if they deal with it on a daily basis but I've always owned a MT and the padlle shifters are a joke to me. I though they could keep me happy but they are just sad if you compare to the real thing.
I traded in my 2009 AT TSX the other week for a 2010 6spd SH-AWD TL. Could not be happier with the decision. What was I thinking? Jesus.
All in all. If you are even asking this question, hold out to get the MT. Just do it.

Although I love driving a manual, considering that I am in the NY metro area, I would have regretted if I had gotten a 6MT. 6AT suits me fine and I love my car. However, when and if I get a 2nd car, it will definitely be a manual.

Don't know where the OP is located, however, when picking up my my wife's 2014 MDX last week I saw a 2012 Tech/AWD/6 Speed at Acura Carland in Duluth, GA (just outside of Atlanta).

Coming from an 04 TL 6spd (before my 09' TL), I occasionally miss having a manual, but considering how often I'm in NYC it's probably for the best that I have an auto.
From what you said about yourself and past motoring experience I would recommend holding out for a manual.

I had an 09 SH-AWD AT and ended up regretting it. A year later I traded it in for a '13 SH-AWD MT and never looked back. I think you will experience the same thing if you settled for the AT. An MT is just too much fun to drive especially with the SH-AWD.

Love the auto, sport mode give you quite a bit more get up
I might get a MT if it was a V6 TSX or the new TLX that has a lot more "sport" in the driving. This is a big heavy sedan I don't understand why so many are trying to make it out to be a sports car.

OP, wait it out and get yourself the manual. I drive in Chicago traffic day in and day out and trust me it is still awesome. The clutch is liker butter so it really is not a big deal. It is not like we are talking about a 93 Mustang with an oldschool cable clutch.

Can one of you bastards with a 6mt SH-AWD in either white or black please trade your car in at a dealership? I'd appreciate that immensely.

That, plus every automatic I've ever driven has been annoying. Even in "sport" or "manual" mode, gear selection is never right when approaching corners or holding gears. The BMW M-DCT is the closest version of an automated manual transmission I'd buy. I realize the MT is fading out, but I just can't get into ANY automatic car and throw it in D or S and have a fun drive on some twisty roads. yawn.

I'm located up in Minneapolis, MN. I would totally buy a car out of state, but I don't really feel comfortable buying a car sight unseen.

But I guess it all depends on who you deal with and the relationship. I assume I get treated pretty well since I've been a repeat customer so many times. I also refer a lot of people to him.
Never the less, the price on that 2012 TL 6 speed is pretty good considering it's CPO. It books just a hair under $33K before the CPO certification.
