Another 5G thread....
Sorry, but I just cant seem to find an answer on when the 5G TL will come out. I thought and heard that it would be fall of 2013, but now I heard it may be the fall of 2014, since the Accord still has to come out before the TL. Anyone know for sure?

It will be a '14 model, available sometime in mid-'13. Always one year after the debut of the new Accord model, which is due in the next few weeks (reportedly, BTW, without Honda's trademark double wishbone suspension on the front)

I'm just not sure I can wait for the 5G. I'd love to, but man, the old 3G's getting up there. Any reveal (not production) of the 5G probably won't happen until early/spring 2013 is my guess. Unless they decide to release it earlier.

Pssst, the 4Gen TL went on sale in 2008...
2008-2009 is one year

Honda counts ^ ^ ^ ^
Even though 5 years have elapsed. Kinda like fish and fish...you can argue semantics but Justin is right.
Probably by April/May of 2013, you'll start seeing the "leaked" pictures of the next generation TL. Then by September/October, you'll probably be able to buy it.

blah!
What sort of tech can we see trickle down from the NSX or RLX.
I really wonder if the new TL will be a hybrid. The electric motors will def add some much needed low end torque.

@ this thread....
the way you count is the model years that you see....
so you see a 2004/2005/2006/2007/2008 model years...so its 5 years....as 2004 model year was on sale saw Q3-Q4 2003 and 2009 model year was on sale Q3-Q4 2008.....
Q3 mean quarter 3....just putting it out here for the ignorant...

Approx release of 2009 TL is October 2008. Approximate release of 2014 TL will be Oct 2013.
October 2008 until October 2009 = 12 months
October 2009 until October 2010 = 12 months
October 2010 until October 2011 = 12 months
October 2011 until October 2012 = 12 months
October 2012 until October 2013 = 12 months
If you add all the months together, one gets 60 months, or 5 years. Or you could just subtract 2009 from 2014. One can do the same math between 2004 and 2009 model years. It is a five year cycle, it just has to be.

Model count is 5.
2009 Tl
2010 Tl
2011 Tl
2012 Tl
2013 Tl
So every 5 model cycle, new generation comes out.
When we count year, honda uses 4 year cycle and introduce next generation on 5th year.

5g??!!
I posted this somewhere else on this site and got 0 replies, so maybe I didn't post it correctly. Anyways, shows how much I'm on here. But, as of late, dying to know, as everyone else, who may have some 'credible' 5G rumours. All signs point to the 2014 coming out at the end of 2013, which follows the recent TL cycles. My '09 sh-awd aspec lease will be up by then.
At the very least, in terms of styling, that front and rear over-hang has to go (better on the 2012s, but still an issue, if you ask me). The competition looks so much better when it comes to this and other styling queues. In terms of performance, I hope it's, at the very least, at the level of the G37... cuz right now, it's nowhere close If these concerns are not met by the folks at Honda, they will lose me as a customer of 6 years... Just a bit of a wish list:
1) Anything to replace those dated, old-school-looking-why the heck are these on a car this price- halogen DRLs. LEDs PLEASE!!
2) 350 hp minimum.
3) Better, updated tranny required.
4) 20 inchers... standard... especially considering the size of the car.
5) Adaptive HIDs.
Am I dreaming? I heard the new G's gonna be sick. Sorry Acura... you're probably gonna lose me...

that's five years...but I agree with you on it being 4 model years.
Justin said it best...they are counting it in sections when they say model year. It's not counting the actual length of time.
this reminds me of one of those "Sally went into the hotel with $30 and gave her five pimps $4.50 and ended up with $20 left"...lol.
2004-2005 one model year
2005-2006 one model year
2006-2007 one model year
2007-2008 one model year...
FIVE calendar years...but only 4 model years before a model change.

Honda is on a 4 year model "change" which means a new model is launched in 2004 and its changed 4 times 2005/2006/2007/2008.....
now some see it as a 5 year cycle or a 4 year change cycle....
I think what point was being made is, if a new model comes out is 2004 model when can they see a new generation....the answer is AFTER 5 years or AFTER 4 Model changes.....

Sorry Swoosh - I still can't see what you guys are talking about... there was the 2004 model TL, the year the 3g was introduced. Then: 2005 model, 2006 model, 2007 model, 2008 model. Still 5 model years. Rock star's example forgot the 2008-2009 model year.
This is really funny guys! 5 years!! Not "FIVE calendar years...but only 4 model years before a model change." 5 years, 5 models.

on the 5th year, new design comes out.
2G 1999 TL was introduced in 1998. After 4 years, which is 2002, we have 2G 2003 Tl. Then on 5th year, which is 2003, we have 3G 2004 TL.
Same cycle.
In 2003, we have 3G 2004 TL. After 4 years, in 2007, we have last 3G 2008 TL, then on 5th year, which is 2008, we have 4G 2009 TL.
So, it is 4 years cycle with same design with with 5 model count. on 5th year, there is new generation TL.

Oh wow I'm retarded the 2G was a 5MY cycle too. But 2003-1999 = 4. 2008-2004 = 4, and etc.....
This thread has confused the fuck out of me. I don't even know what's going on anymore.
#39
2008 was the beginning of the 4G. NOT 2009.
Also we are talking about when new generation TL comes out, not how long Acura Factory produces TL.
