Advice - De-Badge, Black Badge or Badge?

I got rear ended last week in my 4-1/2 month old TL SH-AWD 6MT. Car did it's job of protecting me, and while it's cosmetically screwed up, it seems structurally sound. But they're going to have to replace a lot of the rear bits, and repaint the trunk lid.

So... should I...
  • Have the same types of badges put back on, keeping the SH-AWD and the Acura on the other side for balance?
  • Leave just the Acura stylized-compass badge in the middle?
  • Have the two side badges (Acura and SH-AWD) painted black to match the car and put on?

My front beak is already partially blacked out - the large buck-tooth bit was matched to the car body as a requirement of mine when I purchased it in November.

What and why?

Sorry to hear you got rear ended. 99% of the time it's the person behind following the person ahead too closely.

What: Badge - Have the same badges put back on, OEM style.

Why: Never understood the point of "de-badge."

IMHO.

PS. Any chance you can ask the body how much for split folding rear seats?

Here is a pic of my car without the acura, tl, and sh-awd badges. I like it because of the clean look and the fact that it's now symmetical.

I just de-badged mine yesterday. I find that de-badging makes a car look cleaner in many instances and a lot easier when washing & detailing. I have been doing it for years to all my cars. To each is own, so you should take off or do what you want to do. Some people de-badge cars completely which I don't like. Again it's all personal preference.

The title of this thread should be "I like bare butts and I cannot lie."

Or with the 4G shouldn't it be called "I like Big Bare Booty!" Oh wait I think I have that movie...

If I debadge my car, which think I might want to do, and if I don't like it afterwards, how do I put the badges back on? What type of glue?

Just use 3M tape. They sell it at Pep-Boys or Advance Auto, Autozone.

debadging - removal process

Is there a step by step "best" way to debadge the 4g TL? Is it listed anywhere? I've come to the conclusion that it looks best that way.

I've never debaged any of my vehicles. The 4G TL is an exception. There's alot going on in the back of our cars so I think debaging makes it look much better. The big A is enough for me. Spelling out ACURA along with TL and ShAWD is just too way too much and a bit tacky iMHO.

I just did a partial de-badge myself last weekend. I just wanted the word ACURA off the rear.

I left the center emblem and the SH-AWD logo - with the intent of probably pulling the S and powder coating it red.

Your car is new enough where all you need to do is use some fishing line/string and run it behind the letters and they should come right off. Then use some tar remover or Goof Off to take off and adhesive that maybe left over and then wax the area. Simple as that.
