When I went to test drive them, they were pretty noisy on high setting. They were even kinda loud on medium.

A switch with 3 fan speed settings. They aren't cooled by AC but ventilated by blowing air us, into the seats... feels nice, actually and not so noisy as to be noticeable to me

in the TL, the air is sucked into the seat, not blown out of. Opposite of the way lexus's system works.

If I had to guess, I would say the blowing is better when you first get in. I have the Advanced and I really really like the ventilated seats after you have been driving for a while. It basically sucks the clammy hot feeling away from you butt. I didn't think I would use it much but I have almost every day in the hot south! I would pay for this option again. I basically got mine for the 18"s, love the ventilated seats. The BIS is sort of a pain. I know I'm clear before the system could tell me, so I pretty much ignore it.

due to the proximity of how close your butt is to the seat, as long as there is movement in the air beneath you, it will feel "cool" either way.

Lexus for example, only has the true "air conditioned" seats in the LS. Most of the other models have seats that work like air hockey tables. Whether it's sucking or blowing, the idea is to move air around to cool your butt. I've used both (TL Advanced and IS250), and both work well, but I think I like the Lexus and 2GRL method of blowing better. It simply felt like it cooled better.

Wanta's explanation is pretty good. Blowing will cool, sucking will stop you from feeling sweaty/uncomfortable, but won't really cool.

I imagine it depends on where the circulating air is coming from
