AcuraLink Weather/Traffic Subscription

Anyone know the cost to subscribe? Is it negotiable? Don't really need/want XM radio

It may be, everything is negotiable with XM radio. But honestly, I thought while nice, it was too spotty of service to actually pay for after it ran out. I got the $77 deal for xmradio and couldn't be happier.

As Petec said, it all seems negotiable. I was given a rate of $84/year for Traffic/Weather.

So... a little Off Topic, but I got in my car today, and my traffic and weather were turned ON? It's been about 4 months since it's been off, and I haven't called for them to turn it on... very, very odd.

?

$77- $84/yr for just weather & traffic or XM, too. The sales rep said there are different bundles for service, you can get weather/traffic w/o XM.

Hmmm.....not sure what your prices are for?

my $77 was just for XMradio, no weather or traffic (although it turned on for me today, so )

Petec, I think they mistakenly gave you the Weather/Traffic I just re-upped for. They said it was on, but as of last night not working in my car.

Crazy. I wonder if they have any clue what they're doing or if it is not just random switching on/off.

The price they offered was 77 for music plus 84 for weather/traffic. If you call, the rack rate is 96/year for traffic/weather.

$77+$84=$161/yr?

That seems pretty high, especially if traffic& weather is spotty. Guess I'll see how it is during 90 trial.

My traffic/weather service hasn't been spotty, but I think it depends on where you live. Outside a major metro, I doubt they're of much use. I rely on the traffic every day during my commute, and it has helped me avoid a major jam on a couple of occasions. The weather is less important, but I got caught on a trip a few years ago driving right into a tornado warning area in TN, and at the time my wife and I both said, someone needs to offer a service in the car so you can tell if you're driving into heavy weather. The XM weather does just that.

I'll give it a go for a year and see how I like it, how much I use it (and what they're charging next year).

Yea, the traffic was way better than the weather. I used to drive into the city everyday, so it came in handy, but I changed jobs last fall, and now am all city driving, so I don't use it much. It has been fairly accurate in Boston, sometimes right on, other times, not so much.

It's a promotional thing from May 25 thru June 7th.
Check your Acura Messages.
Enjoy!

Not to sound stupid, but I haven't gotten an Acura message ever since the very first weeks when I took delivery of the car last year.

Are Acura messages sent on a "forever basis," or do you have to pay for XM to receive Acura messages?

I am paying for XM, and the promotional message was there when I came home from work. XM probably is the tie-in.

Sounds very likely. Given the current XM promotion, I'll see if I receive any Acura Link messages.

The messages you get the first 30 or 60 days are built in messages to the system, they're not sent from anywhere. I thought the acuralink was so that you could schedule an oilchange from your car via the internet on your phone.

I don't subscribe to XM. My trial period ended 2 months ago but I still got the Acura Link message yesterday about the May 25th to June 7th free period.
