First time post to the site, please be patient with me. I purchased my TL late summer, trading in a 2002 TT Roadster. It was time for a grown-up car with AWD. I am wondering about the shift points for the auto trans. Coming from a manual I admit I am having to learn how to drive an automatic, but it makes me crazy that the tranny shifts out of 1st & 2nd at low RPM's. To me this defeats the purpose of the sport mode. What changes, if any have members made to their cars to rectify this?

Car is my wife's car, replacing an AWD Mercury Montego we had before that (no comments, please). Her former Acuras are a '90 and '91 Integra (5-speed sedan to auto coupe), '93 Legend, and '96 RL. She moved to a Honda Pilot in the '04-08 timeframe as an interim step. The TL has about 25k on the clock now and she's going to buy it out a the end of the lease.
For me I have a '15 RDX AWD Tech, which replaced a '13 MDX Base that I ended the lease early on. Previous car was a Ford Freestyle, and a Honda Pilot and Accord before that.

I really suggest this if you buy your car second hand. Was pretty much the post that got me curious on this site. If you have owned your car since new, you probably won't notice a difference:
The Throttle is "Drive By Wire" and adapts to your particular driving
style. Do a TBA Throttle body adaptation.
1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.
2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter
turns over.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back
to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas
pedal.
5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment.
6. Drive the car as you always do.
Depending on your driving style, this may or may not be a big factor. I do a lot of city driving so
I noticed a big change after erasing my history. It is not hard to do this, just follow the instructions -
Key on, pedal down, 5 sec, key off pedal up, wait 2
minutes.

Replaced a 2005 Honda Accord V6. Oldest daughter just got her driver's license in June and decided to give her the Accord. Thought that would be a nice, safe first car for her. During car shopping, wanted to look at Mazda6 and Kia Optima, but wasn't sure I wanted to go to a 4 cylinder. Saw a nice CPO TL and test drove that first. Fell in love with it and never made it to Mazda or Kia dealer. We've been a Honda family for a while - wife with the Odyssey and me with the Accord, and both cars have been really good to us. My gut was telling me to stay with Honda.....but just needed something different from the Accord. There was enough of a difference with the TL and it keeps me in the Honda family. Researching the TL brought me to this site and I've been hooked ever since - so much good information being shared. Really good to see a community that is so passionate about their cars. Don't have a big budget for mods, but I hope to do little things here and there to give the car my own flavor. Hope to get pictures up soon!
