I previously owned a 1992 Integra and a 1998 Integra. When I saw that 2G TL, I've always told myself, once I make enough money, I'll get that TL.

In between then and now, I had wandered off quite often. A 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, a 2002 Land Rover Freelander HSE, a 2008 Subaru Legacy GT, and four months after buying that Legacy GT, upgraded to a 2008 Subaru Legacy GT Spec.B.

Instead of getting the Subaru, I could've gotten a 3G TL Type S or a used A-SPEC, but I was hooked on AWD. Then when the 4G TL came with AWD, and 6 MT in 2010, I wanted one quite badly. Unfortunately, the 4G TL's starting price jumped up significantly over the 3G. =(

For some odd reason, near the end of March, I decided to search Acura's CPO inventory in my area. To my surprise, a 2010 TL 6 MT was available. With a 1.9% APR to boot! But that stealership, despite having that on inventory since last October, wanted a crazy $36,000!! And to add insult to injury, they wanted pennies for my Spec.B! But ever since I test drove that CPO, I was in love! Memories of my "when I grow up" dream came rushing back. I was on a path...

March came and went, then April. But by then, the itch just had to be scratched. And thankfully, there is a $2,000 MFR-DLR rebate, plust a 0.9% APR program. A quick call to AMEX's auto purchasing program later, I got 2 quotes for new 6 MTs for relatively good prices!

But those dealers were far. I wanted to check a closer dealer to see if they'll wheel and deal, even though they are not an AMEX certified dealer. On April 5th, I came to learn that that stealership had ordered a 6 MT back in December, with a production date of April 10-15!

After 4 hours of negotiating, I got a great trade-in for my Spec.B. I signed that dotted line on the purchase agreement. And as soon as I could, I signed up for membership on AZ.

And the 19 days since then has been brutal. I couldn't contain my excitement. I also started participating in the discussions. I downloaded most of the service manuals for the 2012 TL (https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...2&postcount=40). I couldn't sleep. What if the production got delayed, and pushes past April, and I lose the dealer incentive and 0.9% APR, which made it possible for me to buy the TL? All the questions ate at me. And what if my Spec.B gets wrecked by some idiot Chicago driver? It was a really stressful 19 days.

Suddenly, as if things couldn't get any better, last Friday I was contacted by a fellow LegacyGT forum user who wanted to buy my Spec.B. Hours were spent with the Acura stealership to see if I can sell the Spec.B instead of trading in, conference calls with my loan officer, and the prospective buyer's loan officer. By Saturday, we had a deal. He was to drive from Ohio, and I was to take Monday off. In the end, he bought the car, and I ended up coming out slightly ahead than trading it in. (In Illinois, you don't get a sales tax credit towards a new car purchase if you sell your old car through a private sale.)

Before I had the chance to even deposit they buyer's check, the Acura stealership on April 24 called at 13:00. "John! The truck just arrived. I have deliveries with 2 customers in the afternoon and evening, and I have tomorrow off. So you can take delivery today if you come now, or you can come Thursday."

Long story short (did you guys watch last week's South Park?), I finally am the proud owner of a 4G TL SH-AWD 6MT. I didn't want to sign in when I haven't actually bought the car, but now that I have, hello to y'all! =)

Definitely looking forward to a great experience with the car, with AZ, and finally fulfilling my long lost dream of owning a TL. =) And most importantly of all, coming back to the Acura family.
