2012 TL SH-AWD getting awful fuel economy
Basically I found a TL for a solid deal, dude selling it isn't aware that 21L/100km (11.2 MPG) is not anywhere near ideal even for this car (it has 178k km/110k miles), he was told it was normal. Has anyone experienced mileage this terrible?
I was wondering if there was anything common with these cars I should check out and if it may be a simple fix or if I should avoid it completely. He has service records back until the car was new. Would it be worth paying $100 and bringing it 30 minutes away to have my mechanic check it out?
Brakes seem like they should be done but not sure if that's the issue!
Any help here is greatly appreciated!
Thanks all!

The inconvenient truth
When I was trying to qualify for the excessive oil consumption repair and driving it hard even then I was still at about 17 mpg. So that's really bad but I calculated it myself and im not sure how accurate the car computer is. Are you aware of excessive oil burning on the 3.7?

I am aware of it, while definitely annoying, not the end of the world for me. I also checked the live fuel economy with my OBD2 scanner and got the same result as far as fuel usage goes.

When is the last time that the fuel mileage measurement has been re-set?
If the CEL isn't on, the engine is running fine.
Probably 99% of "I'm getting less fuel economy than expected" issues are driving habit or driving environment related. Letting the car warm up, driving short trips, idling, etc.

I could see fuel economy like this if the guy only drives in-town with lots of stop and go, and always in sport mode. When I lived in town I'd be getting 16.5-17L/100km (normal drive mode) with lights or stop signs every few hundred metres, lots of idling.

Keeping TL until 2029
IMHO, City Driving is notoriously bad, especially in the winter (SH-AWD). The only time I have had great mileage was when I drop off kids to camp (3 hours@110 km/h). I would get it close to 8.6L/100.

I do 80% to 90% city driving, have never seen it go more than 15.9 l/100km with spirited driving time to time. Maybe he is always on manual mode riding the lower gears? Why not reset the computer and go for a drive yourself for 15-30 mins and see what the average comes up to

Sauce God
not sure why you're being an ass, but you go to trips, select a or b and reset it, fill your tank, then see how many miles you drove on that trip until your tank is empty, then divide the miles driven by the tank compacity and boom there is your mpg.

By resetting your mileage when you fill your tank and driving until the tank is empty, you would then refill your tank and divide distance from full by gallons filled.
Not distance til empty.
I wasn't being an ass. Your post didn't make sense, so I asked for clarification.
Here is a recap.
So I asked....
Anyway, OP is gone. Went out for cigarettes 18 years ago.
