4G TL Front Bumper Plugs

Where is the best place to buy a pair of front bumper plugs (OEM painted) for the 4G TL?

The dealer may have some lying around and give them to you free. It's suppose to come with the car as the other poster said.

I think there's a rule about quoting yourself in your signature; it’s like giving yourself your own nickname. Mr!

I got the bumper plugs for my 3G a few months after I had bought it and decided to remove the front plate -

Since the dealer removes the plugs when they sell the car and install the front plate bracket I just asked the service guy if they had any
- I got the impression that they had a large collection of the plugs that they had removed with each sale
when I bought my 4G - I made a point ask for them b4 I left the dealer -

The OP might just go back to the dealer he purchased the car from and say that they should have been left in the car when he bought it - but they weren't and ask if they have any "left overs"

The bumper plugs did not come with my 4G TL. I had to specifically request them from the sales man. The salesman said that they do not normally give those out because the law requires a front license plate. But, he went back to his office and came back with a cup FULL of the plugs in all colors. He gave me 4 of them in my color.

I looked at them and there are actually two designs. One design has a larger tab than the other side. The second design had the tabs in equal size. I tried both designs and they seem to both fit equally well.

You can pry them off with you finger nails. If not, then use a micro fiber towel and a small flat headed screw-driver to pry them off.

If you happen to damage the plugs, just go to the dealership and talk to your salesman and get some more for free.

Quick question, are the 4G TL bumper plugs the same size and everything as the 3G bumper plugs? I have a 3G TL but I found the 4G bumper plugs for about half the price as the 3G's.

I called my Acura dealer and asked if they had any lying around and they said no, because the cars are delivered to them with the license plate bracket already attached. No plugs.

Thanks in advance.

Trade? Help!

Just purchased a 2009 TL from a local Honda dealership. The car was originally licensed in NY, so there was a front license plate bracket on the car. I live in MS, and I'm surrounded by states that only require the rear plate. As such, none of the local dealers have spare plugs to give. Further, I stopped at a dealer in VA a couple weeks ago (there for business) and they put them in the glove compartment on their new vehicles...wish the dealer in NY did that...

Anyone in the opposite predicament? I have a bracket I can send you in exchange for plugs! White Diamond Pearl.

Or maybe for those of you that know a dealer with a cup of plugs, I'll PayPal you postage!

I priced them, this is certainly a better first option.

Yeah you will have to check around at other acura dealers - there should not be any problem for a dealer to ship them to you painted and all. Hope this helps, Congrats on your TL!

sorry I didn't post earlier but my time machine was broken 2...

I finally put my front plate on after someone in a parking lot did a slight bumper rub on my front bumper - right where the plate goes.

so now w/ the plate on you can't see the mark - that would have otherwise had been on the plate and not the bumper - if the plate was there in the 1st place

i was considering removing my front plate..found this old thread and thought "great... i'll call my local dealer and pickup some".... apparently not.

1) my dealer said they don't have any bumper plugs. i was told by the service advisor that they don't have plugs in the cars when new - he said they have premarked holes they drill out... so he said they have no plugs to give away..

2) so i get xferred to the parts dept and was told they could order me a set. they cost $35.97 EACH. yes. each, not for a set. for i'd spend about $70 to get a set of OEM bumper plugs...

i told them no thanks... i may try another dealership... or just order a set from bumperplugs.com

or i'll try anohter dealer...

My 2012 Acura TL has holes drilled in for Front License plate. Can you please suggest If I buy bumper plugs, does they fit them correctly??

Also please suggest where to buy? I tried my dealer & he said bumper plugs are not available for 2012 model.

Bumperplugs.com

Also if the holes are too small, you would need to open then up a little bit to fit these plugs.

lol the funny thing is that most of the new cars on the lot have the plugs on the driver side door pocket.. not sure if this applies to the 2012+ models.. but i know when i was picking out my tl.. they were always in the door pocket..

^ did you have to enlarge the bumper hole? That's what I heard you have to do with those but wasn't 100% sure.

^Yeah you got to wash out/clean the bumper holes a little. Also since my dealer over tighten my front bracket, it left like a bump on there, so it didn't matter to me.

I paid CAD $59 for a pair 2 days ago at the dealership

it also depends on the province or state you live in
in our province only rear plate is used so dealers won't have extra plugs sitting there which they could have removed from the new cars

Yea...you just need to drill out the holes to make them a little larger in diameter to fit the plugs. Took me 5 minutes.

I just installed mine this past week. Ordered them from Bumperplugs.com and paid $34 for the pair. Acura wanted $46.90 each!!!! I did have to drill the holes out a little bigger but the little things popped right in after that and they look great.

Ok, I'm a newbie, and a girl.. So please be gentle. I just bought new 2010 TL and I was really surprised the front bumpers came out of the factory with holes drilled in them. I think front plates are tacky. But my sales guy is sending me the plugs.. lesser of the two evils, I guess. Still, why wouldn't they give us the option to have a clean front bumper? The tow plug is already there...
