Just took the temporary tags off today and was putting on my license plate when I saw this. I went ahead and installed the new plate but there is a noticable gap across the top. I feel like I'm missing a piece or something.

Interesting. I have temp tags on now and I plan on putting on my NYS plates but I haven't even looked at it yet.

Can you show a picture of what it looks like with the plate on?

nope, that is how it should be.. you need a bracket to go infront of the plate tho..

I can't at the moment but it's easy to see if you look at where the screw holes are on the top in relation to where the holes are on a typical license plate. Either way this is a whole lot of holes for no reason I can think of outside of me missing a bracket.

I did receive the front plate bracket. I looked for it just in case I had it was actually supposed to be for the rear. What a weird design.

in Texas, its illegal to have that bracket on the front of the plate...

in other words, nothing can be obstructing the full plate view.

Ok...I guess I'm glad to learn it's normal and that nothing is missing. I do wish I understood the point of its design. Save weight? Aerodynamics?...or just let's cut a bunch of meaningless holes where the license plate goes.

Actually, I believe those holes are there to make accessing the rear license plate bulbs easier.
