2012 TL SH-AWD Advance Picked Up!
Hi Everyone,
Just got back with the 2012 TL SH-AWD Advance. This is my 6th Acura...
1987 Legend
1991 Legend LS Sedan
1993 Legend LS Coupe
2007 TL Type-S
2010 TL SH-AWD Tech
2012 TL SH-AWD Advance
Loving the 6-speed auto!!! So much better than the 5-speed in the 2010. I must say that the blind spot information system is VERY nice. The indicators are not overly bright so they don't make your eyes jump to them when they light up. You only really notice them when you look over at the mirrors. 19's look sweet, ride is a bit firmer than the 2010 nothing crazy like the 2007 Type-S was though.
I took some exterior pics a few mins ago. You can check them out @

very nice!
have you had a chance to see how much less rpm the engine runs at a set highway speed with the 6spd auto vs the 5?
how about acceleration for the 6 vs the 5 ?
and the improved sound deadening ?

Just bought one myself - all black in the same configuration as yours. Dealer should have it ready to go this weekend. Hope I like it as much as you do.

The 6-speed accelerates much faster. I have no idea as far as what the 0-60 is but it feels much more on par if not better then my 2007 Type-S. The transmission was one of my main reasons for upgrading I drive about 100 miles a day and the 5-speed would annoy me so much sometimes.
As far as the sound deadening it does seem a little quieter but it not a huge difference.
Everyone else thanks for the kind words. If the sun ever decides to come out I'll take some good pictures of the car.

MAN That's sweet compared to the deal they tried giving me!!!!
They only offered me a 5-6 year.
5 years at 2.9 and 6 years at 4.9
My trade has negative equity in it so I don't know how much that is effecting, but they are pretty much trying to steal my 2007 type s away from me. I was approved through Honda/Acura Finance. I may have to talk to another dealership!!
BTW it wa $45945 MSRP and $1,300 off with a "courtesy discount" down to $44,645 out the door for advance package!!!

I always use Edmunds to determine what my cars should be worth... They have been very accurate... Of course the dealer will always try to low ball. Took me over 2 weeks to lock this deal down and we were way off on the trade numbers but by the end I was 400$ off the number listed on Edmunds.
Ok Red, Thanks. Hey I just made a thread about this, it's more in detail, check it out and shed some opinions on it if you will. Thanks

For anyone else in the market for advance models keep the following in mind. Advance models are extremely rare right now. Within 200 miles of my zip there are only 7, and I'm located in NJ! Also 2 dealers told me on Thursday that Acura is cutting back production by 50% for the rest of the year. Maybe they were lying but both told me the same thing. So Redhot you did REALLY well and should consider yourself lucky.

Redhot - Congrats on your new whip; looking awesome. I am going to experience that feeling of euphoria in about two hours. My sales guy just called to advise that the car has arrived and they are now preparing it for delivery.

Actually if Acura is cutting back production by 50% and have the intentions on jacking prices, they are absolute fools. Of course the current condition of Japan plays into it. There are too many other great cars out there regardless of the fresh updates and dealerships not willing to bargan an agreeable price. Sales starved Acura TL dealerships need to be a little realistic but if there are only a few TLs on dealership inventories, the dealership owners will wait for their price and those willing enough to pay a premium with money burning a hole in their pockets will pay the price.
I would wait for my price. IMHO

As hard as it is to do so, this is the best advice out there, I plan on hitting up my dealer tomorrow, telling them I want X for my trade and I'll give them 2500 under sticker, call me when they feel like selling the car.
There' about a 3k markup on invoice, plus dealer hold-back on these, come end of month/quarter, someone will call. So in essence even at 2500 under sticker the dealer is still making a solid grand on the car.

So I drove about 300 miles today in the new car. 80mph = 2200rpm in 6th. Ended the trip with 24mpg.

The wheels alone make the advance package worth it. If I end up with a manual I'm gonna have to attempt to pick up a set off the boards (if someone will part with them)
