2010 TL SH-AWD - Gurgling on Idle
Hey all!
I finally picked up my baby! I am now a proud owner of a used 2010 TL SH-AWD/Tech in Polished Metal Metallic w/Taupe interior! I would like to thank everyone for helping me by answering questions! I absolutely LOVE the car... perfect mix of luxury and aggressive performance and handling.
One little concern I have is... whenever I'm stopped with the car on 'DRIVE' (like at a red light)... the engine idle makes this gurgling sound... kinda like a Diesel engine on cold startup. Is this normal? This noise goes away when it's in 'Park' and 'Neutral'.
It's kinda loud and bothersome when I don't have the sound system running. Is this something that I should go into Acura for possible repairs or tune up?

Congrats on the car first of all... Someone else with an automatic can maybe chime in on the gurgling sound issue...

I am like you, having bought my 2010 TL SH-AWD about a month ago. I am not hearing anything like this. I too think you should check this out with the dealer.

Congrats on getting the AWD TL.
Like others have said, bring it to the dealer to check it out. It shouldn't be like this.

I've got a '12 SH-AWD I bought new and now has 15K miles on it - this is its 2nd winter with me and I think I hear the gurgle you describe, to me it sounds like its coming from the back of the car, and I only hear it right after starting her when its cold, and it only started this winter. As soon as the car is warmed up, I don't hear it. I'm not too concerned about it now, and attribute it to the weather. Once we get above 50 degrees consistently if I still hear it I plan on asking the dealer, but for now it doesn't seem to be an issue

OK its not really a gurgle... bad word. More like a mechanical tapping sound... sorta like a valvetrain noise but not really.
I did some research and supposedly it is very common if not in ALL 3.7L SH-AWD models.
